About Weavers Cottage

Muddlebridge House offers a choice of seven nicely presented holiday cottages, nestling amongst attractive grounds close to the riverside town of Barnstaple in Devon. Comfortable and well presented, each cottage has its own unique character, accommodating two to six guests individually, making them a popular choice with not only families but also couples and extended groups who want to holiday together.

Perfect for those who like to have on-site facilities to keep the children (and adults!) entertained, guests have plenty of space to relax and let off steam with three acres including play areas for the children, two games rooms for inside fun, picnic areas for alfresco dining (BBQs available) and an indoor swimming pool and sauna for indulging in relaxation. There is also a communal laundry room for clothes washing, and also complimentary use of the outdoor tennis courts at Tarka Tennis Centre in Barnstaple (indoor courts also available to hire - charges apply). If guests wish to hire bikes there are a number of options nearby that need to be booked a few days in advance.

Whilst the cottages offer a taste of rural life, they are conveniently sandwiched between Barnstaple (two miles away) and picturesque Instow (three miles), near to a wealth of attractions, shops, eateries, supermarkets and the Tarka Trail offering over thirty miles of traffic free cycling. There is a regular bus route close by for those who prefer to explore by public transport, and the cottages are within easy driving distance of Bideford, the picturesque fishing village of Appledore, Braunton (with the country's largest network of sand dunes), the popular seaside resort of Ilfracombe. The South West Coastal Path offers miles of fabulous walking and there are plenty of glorious beaches for relaxing including Northam Burrows, Croyde, Woolacombe, Saunton and Westward Ho! to name just a few. Exmoor's stunning National Park is also only thirty minutes away by car, and there are National Trust properties such as Arlington Court (with its carriage museum), and gardens (including RHS Rosemoor) within a twenty minute drive.

Closer to home, the vibrant villages of Fremington (with convenience store, two pubs, a fish and chip shop and Chinese Takeaway) and Bickington (smaller but still offering a convenience store and the Old Barn Inn for a meal out) are just a mile from the cottages. The surrounding area also offers plenty to keep walkers occupied with a particular favourite being a half-mile walk along the tidal creek to Fremington Quay, a haven for wading birds with a heritage centre, cafe, picnic areas and access onto the Tarka Trail and Cycle Route 3.

With so many of Devon's top attractions within a short drive, lovely walks and cycle rides locally and excellent on-site facilities, Muddlebridge House Holiday Cottages offers all the right ingredients for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday in the South West.
