Rosedale Cottage is a dog-friendly holiday cottage in Brixham, sleeping six guests in three bedrooms, less than a mile from the harbour, marina and coast. There's plenty here to make family holidays easy: two bathrooms, off-road parking for two cars, a large enclosed garden and enough room around the farmhouse-style dining table for everyone to sit down together. The owners have continued to improve the cottage too, adding a new en-suite to the main bedroom and turning the third bedroom into a proper twin for 2026. Dogs haven't been treated as an afterthought either, with their own beds, blankets, bowls and towels provided. The nearest pub, The Bell, is around half a mile away, while dog-friendly options including The Burton and The Three Elms are both within a mile. Best of all, you can be down at Brixham's working harbour in roughly 20–25 minutes on foot, then return to a garden with enough space for children to play, dogs to potter and adults to claim the hammock for an hour.
Brixham earns its reputation as a proper fishing town rather than simply a seaside resort. Fishing boats still come and go from the harbour, seafood lands at the market, and the waterfront is lined with cafés, pubs, restaurants and independent shops. You can visit the Golden Hind replica, wander around the marina or join the South West Coast Path for a longer walk with the sea beside you. Breakwater Beach is within walking distance, with St Mary's Bay and Broadsands giving you more choices nearby. Berry Head National Nature Reserve is only a short drive from the cottage. It combines dramatic coastal scenery with a lighthouse, a Napoleonic fort, and the chance to spot dolphins offshore during the summer months. Boat trips and watersports add another way to explore Tor Bay, or take the ferry across to Torquay or Paignton and leave the car behind for the day.
There is plenty beyond Brixham when you feel like exploring more of South Devon. Dartmouth is particularly easy to reach, with the River Dart crossing adding a little adventure to the journey, while Totnes offers independent shops, cafés and a very different atmosphere from the coast. The wider English Riviera opens up more beaches, family attractions and waterside towns, and Blackpool Sands is within driving distance when you're in the mood for one of South Devon's best-known stretches of coast. What makes Rosedale work so well is that busy days don't have to stay busy. You can spend the morning walking above the sea, stop for lunch beside the harbour, then head home for a barbecue, a game in the garden or a long family meal around that big dining table. With Brixham close by and enough space at the cottage to slow things down, it's easy to divide the holiday between going out and simply enjoying where you're staying.

Accommodation Comprises
Rosedale is a pretty detached cottage within a short walk of the centre of Brixham and its harbour. Please note that there are some low ceilings and doorways downstairs, so taller guests should take care.

Outside
Rosedale has a notably large enclosed garden, and it gives the cottage much more outdoor space than you might expect this close to Brixham. There's room for children to play games, for dogs to explore safely, and for adults to retreat to the hammock with a book. A barbecue area makes summer meals easy, though guests should bring their own charcoal. The garden is raised above the cottage in places, so young children need supervision. Private off-road parking for two cars is another valuable bonus in Brixham, particularly during the busier summer months.
Additional Information
Rosedale Cottage welcomes up to two well-behaved dogs at no extra charge. Dog beds, blankets, bowls and towels are provided. Bed linen, towels and fast WiFi are included. An EV charging point is available by prior arrangement for £10 per night for the duration of the stay; guests should bring their own charging lead.
