Parkers Cottage is a Grade II listed stone cottage in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, less than two miles from Dent. There is space for up to five people to sleep in three bedrooms, with guests enjoying sweeping views of the Dentdale Valley (which has Dark Sky status) and Whernside. The cottage is ideal for couples, families or friends who want a straightforward, comfortable place to eat and sleep in between days spent exploring this beautiful landscape.
You do not have to be a hardened hiker to enjoy the Yorkshire Dales on foot. The cottage is convenient for accessing the long-distance Dales Way footpath or to take a shorter route up Great Knoutberry Hill for far-reaching views across the famous Yorkshire Moors. Cyclists can use the Pennine Cycleway (Sustrans route 68) or take to the mountain bike trails and bridleways that lace their way around the countryside. The fast-flowing River Dee once powered numerous mills in Dentdale and is now a picturesque spot for walks, fishing and picnics.
Dent is a pretty Cumbrian village with a well-stocked shop and two pubs serving real ale and good food - ideal for those who want a night off from the kitchen. The train station is on the Settle-Carlisle route which passes over the Ribblehead Viaduct and through spectacular scenery. Climb aboard the train for a day's shopping at either Carlisle or Leeds, or as an easy car-free alternative to touring the countryside.
Parkers Cottage not only has direct access to the beautiful Yorkshire Dales National Park, but it is only 15 miles from Kendal and the Lake District National Park, and an easy drive from Morecambe Bay and the Bowland Forest Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is easy to see why this area is a favourite year-round destination for people who enjoy being outdoors, enjoying the vast landscape, open skies and breathtaking views.
The owners have another property, Willans Farmhouse, half a mile away, and the two can be booked together to accommodate groups of up to 12 people.
