Overdale Cottage is a stylish stone-built holiday home in the heart of Dent, with sweeping views across beautiful Dentdale. Set within the Yorkshire Dales National Park and less than 25 miles from Windermere, the cottage makes a great base for exploring both the Dales and the Lake District. The centre of the village is just a short walk away and offers two traditional pubs – The George and Dragon and the Sun Inn – along with welcoming coffee shops, a village store, and scenic walking and cycling routes including the Dales Way.
Dent is a characterful village with cobbled streets, whitewashed cottages, and a proud history of hand-knitting and Dent Marble. From the door, guests can set out on riverside walks or explore the quiet lanes and wildflower meadows of Dentdale. Nearby Sedbergh, England’s official Book Town, has independent shops, eateries and access to the Howgill Fells. Dent Station, perched high on the fells, connects to the Settle–Carlisle Railway and is just a 10-minute drive from the cottage.
The wider area offers endless opportunities for day trips and adventure. Visit waterfalls and limestone pavements around Ingleton and Malham, head to Windermere and Bowness for boat trips and lake views, or explore historic towns such as Kirkby Lonsdale and Kendal. The Lake District and Dales each have their own distinct character, and both are within easy reach of Dent.
Whether you're exploring local fells, touring the region by train, or simply enjoying a pint in the village pub, Overdale Cottage offers a peaceful and well-located place to stay in one of the most scenic parts of northern England.
