When you visit Dentdale you will by overwhelmed by the stunning scenery, deep heritage and great sense of pride that runs through the Dales community. A place surrounded by natural beauty that has over many years attracted artists, musicians, photographers and poets. Dentdale offers visitors the opportunity to enjoy a more relaxed pace of life and its convenient location, on the outskirts of Cumbria yet within the Yorkshire Dales National Park, makes it a superb base for visiting the vast array of attractions dotted throughout both the Dales and the county of Cumbria, including the Lake District National Park which is just fifteen miles from Dent.
Here you can relax and unwind amongst breath taking scenery; spend your days walking through spectacular rolling countryside, enjoying riverside walks, or discovering the many attractions of the area - every day escaping the crowds to return back to this peaceful haven of tranquility.
There are plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy in the area which is a haven for walkers where stunning countryside and wildlife abound. A myriad of tracks and footpaths take you across the beautiful landscape including two popular routes, Flintergill and the Heritage Trail. Alternatively, take a more sedate stroll alongside the River Dee. Cycling is another popular pursuit with pretty country lanes for a leisurely ride and off-road tracks providing an excellent way of experiencing the beauty of the Yorkshire Dales and also the Pennine Cycleways which call be accessed directly via Dentdale village.
The Settle-Carlisle Railway is one of the areas top attractions and passes directly via Dent Station (England's highest!). Offering some of the finest scenery you will find on any rail route worldwide, you can take a train to Carlisle or Leeds for a great day out and sit back and enjoy the stunning views of the Yorkshire Dales and Pennines on your way.
Visit the Heritage Centre in the heart of Dent and learn all about the history and working life of the locals living in the Dales. The Mediation Centre in the village is a lovely place to visit for a quiet moment of contemplation. The village also has three pubs and two nice cafes offering the opportunity to enjoy a meal out or pint of local ale at the end of a long walk!
With superb opportunities for walkers, breathtaking scenery and an abundance of attractions both in the Yorkshire Dales and throughout Cumbria, it is hardly any wonder so many guests return to Dent for their holiday.

Penny Bank Cottage sleeps two guests and sits right in the very heart of Dent village with everything close to hand a just a short stroll away (including pubs!).
Additional information: Heating and electricity included. All bedding provided. unfortunately no smoking. There is a car park within 100 metres (permit provided). One small to medium size dog is welcome.
