A visit to Dentdale is sure to overwhelm by the stunning scenery, rich heritage and great sense of pride that runs through the Dales community. A place surrounded by natural beauty that has attracted and inspired culture loves like photographers, artists and poets over the centuries. Dentdale offers visitors the opportunity to enjoy a more relaxed pace of life and its convenient location, on the outskirts of Cumbria yet within the Yorkshire Dales National Park, makes it a superb place for visiting the vast array of attractions dotted throughout both the Dales and the county of Cumbria, including the Lake District National Park which is just fifteen miles from Dent.
From the moment you arrive you can immediately unwind and relax amongst the pure natural beauty of the landscape. Spend hours walking through spectacular scenery, strolling alongside the river keeping an eye-out for wildlife, or discovering the many attractions of the area knowing you can escape the crowds and return to your own quiet oasis of calm at the end of the day.
The local area offers a plethora of outdoor adventures to fill your days with a myriad of tracks and footpaths taking you across the beautiful landscape including two popular routes, Flintergill and the Heritage Trail. A more gentle option is to walk beside the River Dee; or hop on your bike and cycle the quiet country lanes. For mountain bikers, there are also off-road options allowing you to get off the beaten track and discover the raw natural beauty of the Dales. The Pennine Cycleway also passes through Dent adding yet further choice.
Jump on-board the Settle to Carlisle Railway. One of the areas top attractions, it passes directly via Dent Station (England's highest!) and offers some of the finest scenery you will find on any rail route worldwide. The railway line provides access to both the cities of Leeds and Carlisle for a day trip out.
Visit the Heritage Centre in the heart of Dent and learn all about the history and working life of the locals living in the Dales. The Mediation Centre in the village is a lovely place to visit for a quiet moment of contemplation; or savour a proper pint in one of the pubs (you have a choice of three!) or a wedge of cake and cup of tea one of the cafes - perfect for re-fuelling after a long day walking!
With superb opportunities for walkers, breathtaking scenery and an abundance of attractions both in the Yorkshire Dales and throughout Cumbria, it is hardly any wonder so many guests return to Dent for their holiday.
