Milo's Retreat has so much to offer that we hardly know where to start. Do we begin by enthusing about the incredible Cumbrian views this Lake District holiday cottage has from the house and garden, the tranquil location near Milnthorpe in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, or the proximity to mountains, lakes and Morecambe Bay? Or perhaps we should start with the charm of the stone property, beautifully furnished with self-catering accommodation for two people, whether they be a couple or friends. Guests love that it's rural yet not isolated and handy for spectacular sights and attractions.
Milnthorpe is a pretty market town with shops, pubs and other amenities, including a weekly Friday market in the square. On a quiet day with few cars, it is easy to picture Milnthorpe centuries ago, when it was second only to Kendal in importance and horses and carts were the preferred mode of transport. Take time to admire the Victorian features of St Thomas' Church beside the green and the splendid topiary at Levens Hall. It's only a few scenic miles from Milo's Retreat to Heron Corn Mill, the Lakeland Wildlife Oasis, and the picturesque Fairy Steps near Slack Head. You're even closer to the Arnside beach and viaduct which you can catch a train across to reach Grange over Sands (please note you cannot walk or cycle over the viaduct).
One of the most appealing aspects of Milo's Retreat is that it's so close to Windermere and the Lakes, yet off the tourist trail. However, with the fells and dales on your doorstep, you can set off in any direction and find a breathtaking view. You get all of the views and natural features that make this one of the most popular holiday destinations in the UK without the crowds. The National Trust manages a significant portion of the Arnside and Silverdale AONB, including the extensive network of footpaths. Favourite local walks include Jack Scout and Arnside Knott, and there are long coastal walks if you love a water view.
Milo's Retreat takes holiday bookings all year round. Short breaks are possible, depending on availability, so you can enjoy its relaxing atmosphere even if you only have a few days for your break.

Milo's Retreat is a detached cottage with accommodation entirely on the ground floor.
Outside: The cottage has a small terrace with seating. It faces the owners home and there is a shared drive where parking is available.
Accommodation Comprises: WiFi, bed linen, bath towels and utilities are included. A travel cot and a high chair are available. Smoking is not permitted. 1 dog is permitted but please note pets must be walked off the property, there is no outside space available to allow your dog to roam free. Guests with more than 1 or requiring outdoor secure space dogs may prefer the owner's dog-friendly Waterside Cottage which is only two miles away.
