Heron View has everything you'll need for a fantastic self-catering holiday with your family and friends in Yorkshire. The four-bedroom brick cottage sleeps eight people in four very comfortable bedrooms, with an ideal layout for big families, extended families and friends. It is one of seven 4-Star cottages at Low Costa Mill on the outskirts of Pickering in North Yorkshire, where onsite amenities include a swimming pool, 10 acres of grounds, a huge lawn with outdoor games and a children's play area, and all the space you need to unwind and relax with your favourite people.
Sometimes called the Gateway to the North York Moors, Pickering is a characterful market town with excellent amenities for visitors and locals, including lots of places to eat, drink and shop. Attractions include the weekly Monday market, Pickering Castle, the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, the Beck Isle Museum, and the rare surviving medieval wall painting in St Peter & St Paul Church. Follow the self-guided walking tour around town to learn more about its lengthy history. The route starts at the library and takes around half an hour.
The North York Moors is sprinkled liberally with the ruins of abbeys and castles. It's a wonderful holiday destination for anyone who has an interest in history. Follow the footpath between Rievlaux Abbey and Helmsley Castle or visit sites that include Whitby Abbey, Kirkham Priory, and Scarborough Castle. York is within easy reach for a full day of sightseeing, or you could spend the day exploring magnificent Castle Howard.
If you're with the kids, then get them in the car and head for the seaside. Scarborough, Whitby, Robin Hood's Bay and Staithes are all within reach. Closer to home, local attractions include Flamingo Land, Go Ape in Dalby Forest, and Alpamere water park. With a swimming pool and plenty of outdoor space at Low Costa Mill, there's nothing to stop you from having a fantastic day without having to go anywhere.
Walking is undoubtedly one of the most popular ways to enjoy the beautiful landscape that includes moors, woodland, waterfalls and the coast. Cycling and mountain biking are all extremely popular. The owners at Low Costa Mill are very cycle-friendly, providing secure bike storage and a space to clean and repair your bike.
All of the cottages at Low Costa Mill are private and self-contained. They can be booked together to accommodate groups of up to 33 people in seven cottages, making it a fantastic choice for a family reunion or special celebration. Outside: The cottage has an enclosed private garden with lawn and a patio. There is a gas barbecue and an outdoor dining setting. Guests can also use all of the amenities at Low Costa Mill, including the indoor swimming pool, children's playground, woodland walks and fields. There is parking outside the cottage and an EV charging point on site.
Additional Information: Utilities, WiFi, bed linen and towels are all included. Guests to provide towels to use by the pool and beach if they are required. One or two well-behaved dogs are welcome through prior arrangement. Smoking is not permitted in any of the buildings at Low Costa Mill.
