The Cottage is a sweet Lake District hideaway. Tucked away in the Lakeland village of Subberthwaite, a few miles from Ulverston, the one-bedroom holiday cottage overlooks The Old Man of Coniston and Weather Lamb with views that will have you eagerly putting your walking boots on every morning, ready to enjoy the scenery for which the national park is famous. The Cottage is on the owner's smallholding where they raise goats and sheep next to the Cumbrian Way and other local footpaths. It's dog-friendly and popular with couples and solo travellers who love walking, cross-country cycling, and photography.
Subberthwaite is a peaceful spot at the southern end of Coniston Water. Despite its beauty, it somehow escapes the hoards of sightseers descending on the Lake District, letting you enjoy quieter footpaths and bridleways crisscrossing the moorland and low fells. As well as being an easy drive from Ulverston, The Cottage is close to Broughton-in-Furness, a beautifully scenic village worth visiting for its charming cobbled square and Georgian houses, as well as its proximity to the dramatic and unspoiled landscape of the Duddon Valley.
The magnificent beauty of the Lake District will touch your soul. The scale of the fells is spectacular, and its beauty will take your breath away in all seasons. It's difficult to imagine tiring of the views. However, if you feel like a change of scenery, head south to Morecambe Bay for a day on the coast. Staying at The Cottage means you can easily get to Windermere, Kendal, and popular attractions like Sizergh Castle and Hill Top, the beloved home of Beatrix Potter.
The Cottage is one of two beautifully refurbished and equipped holiday cottages on the smallholding. They can be booked together to accommodate extended families or friends, depending on availability. Many guests are repeat visitors and rave about the high standard of the accommodation and extra touches like farm-fresh eggs and milk on arrival.

The Cottage is newly refurbished and extremely well-equipped to make your stay wonderfully comfortable. It's accessible for guests who use wheelchairs and is pet-friendly, welcoming one large or two small, well-behaved dogs.
Outside: The cottage has a secure area for dogs, seating, parking, and fantastic views. A separate building shared by the cottages has laundry facilities.
Additional Information: Utilities, WiFi, bed linen and bath towels are included. A travel cot and a highchair are available on request. Dogs are welcome by arrangement. Please note that there is an extra charge of £30 for dogs. Smoking is not permitted anywhere in or on the property.
