About Sandown

Sandown is a very special family holiday home, both child and pet friendly set in the perfect location on the edge of Bowness-on-Windermere village. It is the perfect choice for families or friends wishing to unwind and enjoy spending time together away from the stress of everyday life and have the luxury of walking distance to the village centre with all the shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants in addition to Lake Windermere’s water edge. The house is beautifully furnished making guests feel welcome and most importantly comfortable. It is an upside down house so the 4 lovely bedrooms, currently under the new government rulings sleeping 7, are all en-suite and located on the ground floor (there is also a travel cot availabe). The very spacious living area on the first floor has a large lounge with nice mountains views, an elegant dining room and a kitchen and utility room which are very well equipped for all your family meals, there is also an outdoor space with table, chairs and BBQ for when the sun shines. What also makes Sandown a great holiday house is the parking for up to 4 cars, making it the ideal choice for anyone looking for high quality holiday accommodation which is reasonable priced and is ideally located in the heart of the beautiful Lake District.

Whether it's your first visit to the Lake District National Park or you have been more times than you can count, Bowness-on-Windermere has the sense that you've come home. Not only is it incredibly picturesque, but it has a relaxed atmosphere that comes from being in a community that revolves around the seasons. Bowness-on-Windermere has everything visitors could desire for their self-catering holiday - including an excellent choice of places to eat out if you don't feel like cooking. In addition to being a magnet for walkers, it's also a top choice for people who enjoy sailing and other watersports.

Even the grouchiest of teenagers would struggle to be bored during their stay at Sandown. Fill your days with hiking, cycling, sailing, climbing, go-karting, sliding down zip-lines and navigating high-ropes courses. Perhaps you'd prefer a round of golf, riding a quad bike, fishing or kayaking. Nearby, there are zoos, playgrounds and indoor play centres, boat rides, castles, and an aquarium. Local attractions include The World of Beatrix Potter and Blackwell, the Lakeside Steam Train, and Hayes Garden World.

Accommodation Comprises:

Sandown is a wonderful example of the perfect family holiday home. It sleeps seven guests in four ensuite bedrooms with accommodation over two levels with an upside-down layout to make the most of lovely views.

Downstairs:

  • Welcoming entrance hall running to the back of the house, off which lead four bedrooms.
  • Three of the bedrooms have a double bed, proper storage and a TV. All rooms are ensuite, with a shower, WC and a handbasin. A travel cot is available on request - please let the owner know when booking.
  • Quiet room with a full-sized (3ft-wide) single bed, TV, and an ensuite shower room.

Upstairs:

  • Open plan living/dining room with multi-aspect windows, hardwood flooring, and a decorative fireplace.
  • There is seating for seven people in the living room, a wall-mounted TV with a DVD player, and a choice of books and games for guests to enjoy during their stay. A desk is tucked away in the corner if guests need a quiet place to work, and the house has WiFi throughout.
  • The dining table comfortably seats eight guests and is as appropriate for lazy brunches as it is for celebration dinners.
  • Well-equipped kitchen with a good complement of utensils, crockery and cutlery. Self-catering is made easier with a double oven, dishwasher and bread maker. The owners have put a great deal of thought into the small details that make a holiday house feel like a second home, and this is especially evident in the kitchen.
  • Utility/cloakroom room with a fridge/freezer and washing machine, as well as a WC and a handbasin.

Outside: As befits a house of this size, the landscaped garden is well maintained with a landscaped area and a patio with garden furniture and a barbecue. There is off-street parking for up to four cars.

Additional Information: All utilities, WiFi, bed linen and bath towels are provided. One well behaved dog is welcome free of charge (2 small dogs may be accepted by prior arrangement with the owner at an additional charge of £40). Smoking is not permitted.
