Rydal Cottage is a welcoming holiday cottage in the heart of beautiful Bowness-on-Windermere. The end of terrace property is in a peaceful residential cul-de-sac with no passing traffic. Shops, cafes, and the eastern shore of the biggest lake in England are only a stone's throw from the door. You're surrounded by the spectacular scenery and welcoming charm that makes the Lake District such a wonderful holiday destination. The two-bedroom period property has been lovingly restored and refurbished to sleep four people in two bedrooms. It is available for short breaks and extended stays all year round. It is ideal if you're escaping with the kids over the summer holidays or you want to stay for a few weeks to explore the magnificent fells of the National Park.
Bowness-on-Windermere has welcomed visitors to the Lake District for centuries and is well-equipped to meet your needs. Wandering along its streets, you will find locally owned businesses selling everything from tea bags to guided tours. The fantastic World of Beatrix Potter attraction is between Rydal Cottage and the shore of Lake Windermere. Potter loved the Lake District and was instrumental in establishing the National Trust to protect and preserve the landscape for future generations. The gardens of her home, Hilltop, inspired her beloved characters and drawings. Hilltop is over the water near Hawkshead, about three miles away. Even in the so-called "off-season", Bowness is busy. It's a hub for outdoor activities like sailing, watersports, climbing, cycling, fell walking and is the starting point for many spectacular walks.
Attractions around Bowness-on-Windermere are many and varied. Take a boat tour, getting off and on at various points to see National Trust Wray Castle, the award-winning Lakes Aquarium, and the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway. Hire a boat, kayak or paddleboard to explore at your own pace, or stay dry and head to the mountains in the footsteps of Alfred Wainwright to places like Catbells and Orrest Head. As Wainwright famously wrote: "There's no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing", so bring your wellies and your sunscreen to be prepared.
Guests of Rydal Cottage love its location, the high standard of accommodation, and the extra touches, such as the parking permit, that will make your stay even more relaxing.
