About Rowan at Grasmere

Rowan at Grasmere is an exceptional Lake District holiday home with ample space for friends or family to enjoy the beauty of the Lakes in all seasons.  It features lounge and dining areas with incredible views, a well-appointed kitchen, and three beautiful ensuite bedrooms sleeping six.  Built on the site of a Victorian vine house in a sheltered garden, this south-facing holiday home offers a high standard of accommodation. Guests love the attention to detail and the quiet and private location yet close to the village centre.

Grasmere is gorgeous. You’ll find all amenities needed for a self catering holiday, whether cooking at home or dining out. Located just a short level walk to a small supermarket, shops, cafes, pubs, and restaurants with dining awards and a Michelin star. As lovely as the village is, the landscape makes it unique. The village and surroundings is best described by William Wordsworth “…the loveliest spot that man hath ever found.”

Cloistered by natural charm and scenery Rowan at Grasmere lies in the Vale of Grasmere. The nearby River Rothay forms a natural boundary as it flows towards Grasmere Lake. Views of fells and craggy outcrops rise sharply from the valley floor and drystone walls enclose sheep, fields and meadows and the exquisite Rowan at Grasmere.

The Lake District provides inspiration and renewal just as it did for William Wordsworth at Dove Cottage. He wrote “..Let Nature be your teacher.” For Rowan at Grasmere this starts on arrival and continues whether inside or outside on the terrace or in the garden. From the front door begin riverside, lakeside and meadow strolls and fell walks to Easedale Tarn, Alcock Tarn, Helm Crag and Loughrigg. Helvellyn Britain’s favourite mountain is close by. Further afield at Ullswater see majestic Aira Force waterfall and wander through woodlands, home of Wordsworth’s daffodil poem.

Accommodation Comprises:

Rowan at Grasmere is a luxurious two-story holiday home for 6 guests in 3 ensuite bedrooms with south facing enclosed landscaped gardens, generous private parking for three cars and sensational fell views. 

Downstairs:

  • Enter via the welcoming entrance porch with space to hang coats and leave your walking boots.
  • A slate fireplace with a log burner ensures the lounge is always cosy and warm. Comfortable sofas and armchairs, and an HD Smart TV with Freesat and Netflix are the perfect place to relax after a busy day. The bifold doors open into the open plan dining, sun lounge, and kitchen areas to form a large social space. There is underfloor heating throughout the ground floor.
  • The modern AGA 60 electric cooker complements the Neff oven and induction and gas hobs for cooking. There is also a large American-style fridge/freezer, a Neff microwave, two separate sink areas, a Quooker instant boiling water tap and two quiet dishwashers. A separate unheated walk-in pantry has a wine storage rack and plenty of space to store groceries.
  • There is a washing machine, dryer and WC in the utility room.
  • Bedroom One, "Yan", has two single or one superking (6ft-wide) bed and views over the garden towards the fells. Please specify how you would like the bed made up when booking.
  • All the bedrooms have an ensuite which are fully tiled, flush floor wet rooms with rainfall showers, underfloor heating, a heated towel rail radiator, towels, and bathrobes.

Upstairs:

  • Bedroom Two, "Tyan", has a 5ft-wide king-sized bed and a large feature window with views to Fairfield Fells.
  • Bedroom Three, "Tethera", has a super-kingsized bed, views of Loughrigg Fells, and the ensuite features twin hand basins and a deep oval bath in addition to the walk-in rainfall shower.
  • All bedrooms have high-quality pocket-spring mattresses, hypoallergenic bed linen, Smart TVs and built-in wardrobes with generous hanging space and shelving.
  • The large landing has an oak desk with a desk chair alongside a comfy reading chair.

Outside: Enclosed landscaped gardens look wonderful in all seasons, making the most of the glorious views. Dine alfresco on the south-facing terrace and move with the sun to other dining and seating spots around the garden.
