About Rowan at Grasmere

Rowan at Grasmere is a superb Lake District holiday home in Grasmere. Built on the site of a Victorian glasshouse within a walled garden, the south-facing holiday home has incredible views and a high standard of accommodation. There is space for six friends or family members to sleep in three beautiful ensuite bedrooms, a well-equipped kitchen for self-catering, and lots of room indoors and outside so you can enjoy the beauty of the Lakes in all seasons. Guests adore the quiet and private location that is only a short level walk to a small supermarket, shops, cafes, pubs, and restaurants including a Michelin-star restaurant.

Grasmere is gorgeous. There aren't enough superlatives to describe the beauty of the village and its surroundings. We'll stick to William Wordsworth's phrase "...the loveliest spot that man hath ever found."  You'll find all of the amenities you need whether you are cooking at home or want to dine out. Don't miss a visit to Grasmere Gingerbread Shop, selling all sorts of treats, including their delectable spicy cross between a cake and a biscuit. Dating from 1854, the shop is 33 years older than Sam Read Bookseller, where you can peruse books and maps of the local area. As lovely as the village is, the landscape makes it so unique. Fells and craggy outcrops rise sharply from the valley floor, overlooking winding lanes, ancient drystone walls enclosing sheep, fields and meadows, and the River Rothay as it flows into Grasmere Lake.

The Lake District attracts millions of visitors every year, yet it's always possible to find a quiet corner to contemplate its beauty. Choose from nearby river and lakeside strolls or fell walks to Easedale Tarn and Sour Milk Gill, Alcock Tarn, Helm Crag. Close by is Helvellyn, Britain’s favourite mountain. Alternatively, head slightly further afield to Scafell Pike, or wander through the daffodil-strewn woodlands, or a boat on Lake Windermere. Local attractions include Dove Cottage and Wordsworth Museum, and the Heaton Cooper Studio and Cafe, whilst just a little further away you will find the Coniston Museum, John Ruskin's Home, and Beatrix Potter's house.

Rowan at Grasmere is a luxurious two-story holiday home for 6 guests in 3 ensuite bedrooms with south facing enclosed landscaped gardens, generous private parking for three cars and sensational fell views. 

Downstairs:

  • Enter via the welcoming entrance porch with space to hang coats and leave your walking boots.
  • A slate fireplace with a log burner ensures the lounge is always cosy and warm. Comfortable sofas and armchairs, and an HD Smart TV with Freesat and Netflix are the perfect place to relax after a busy day. The bifold doors open into the open plan dining, sun lounge, and kitchen areas to form a large social space. There is underfloor heating throughout the ground floor.
  • The modern AGA 60 electric cooker complements the Neff oven and induction and gas hobs for cooking. There is also a large American-style fridge/freezer, a Neff microwave, two separate sink areas, an instant boiling water Quooker tap and two quiet dishwashers. A separate unheated walk-in pantry has a wine storage rack and space to store groceries.
  • There is a washing machine, dryer and WC in the utility room.
  • Bedroom One, "Yan", has two single or one superking (6ft-wide) bed and views over the garden towards the fells. Please specify how you would like the bed made up when booking.
  • All the bedrooms have an ensuite which are fully tiled, flush floor wet rooms with rainfall showers, underfloor heating, a heated towel rail radiator, towels, and bathrobes.

Upstairs:

  • Bedroom Two, "Tyan", features a 5ft-wide king-sized bed and a large feature window with views to Fairfield Fells.
  • Bedroom Three, "Tethera", has a super-kingsized bed, views of Loughrigg Fells, and the ensuite features twin hand basins and a deep oval bath.
  • All bedrooms have high-quality pocket-spring mattresses, hypoallergenic bed linen, Smart TVs and built-in wardrobes with hanging space and shelving.
  • The large landing has an oak desk and a comfy reading chair.

Outside: Enclosed landscaped gardens look fantastic in all seasons, making the most of the glorious views. Dine alfresco on the south-facing terrace and move with the sun to other dining and seating spots around the garden.

Additional Information: Included- cleaning, utilities, WiFi, Netflix, bed linen, bath towels, bathrobes. Children over 14 welcome. Enquire if younger giving their ages.
