About Chase Cottage

Chase Cottage offers guests the best of both worlds - It is a stunning comfortable character cottage, set in a wonderful location in the village of Bowland Bridge within the Lake District.

Bowland Bridge is in the peaceful Winster Valley, in the south-east corner of the Lake District National Park. Although the Lakeland "honeypots" are only a short drive away, Bowland Bridge is a lovely secluded hamlet, set amidst quiet hills, valleys and woods, and reached by a network of winding lanes.

Bowness and Windermere are a few miles to the north, and Lake Windermere itself is just over the hill. The cottage is next door but one to a pub and the well-known Masons Arms is just five hundred yards away, so there are plenty of reasons to avoid cooking!

There is no shortage of things to do locally. Firstly there are numerous pleasant walks from the doorstep, including one to the splendid viewpoint of Gummer's Howe. For the more adventurous, the high Lakeland fells are within easy reach.

Nearby Lakeside has an aquarium, the lake cruisers and a steam railway, with the Lakeland Motor Museum a couple of miles away. Bowness, Kendal, Windermere, Ambleside, Coniston, Hawkshead and Grasmere are also all within a thirty minute drive.

All in all, this is the perfect get-away-from-it-all cottage, where you can be as active or lazy as you want!

Formerly a barn, the cottage has been fully refurbished to a very high standard and comprises:

  • Large living room with comfy leather sofas, digital television with DVD and CD/hi-fi. This room opens through to...
  • Light and airy fully-fitted kitchen and dining area with facilities that include dishwasher, microwave, gas hob and washer/dryer.
  • Upstairs there are two good-sized double bedrooms, one with a walk-in dressing-room area.
  • Modern fully-tiled bathroom with a bath and a power shower.

Additional information: The cottage has gas central heating and a feature electric 'stove' in the living room. All windows have views over the surrounding countryside. Outside there is a patio garden with a bench, and private parking for two cars. One child age six or over welcome. All bed linen, tea towels, bath mats provided but you do need to bring your own towels.
