About The Granary

The Granary is a character-filled holiday apartment in a peaceful location with views over Portsmouth Harbour and the Solent. As part of a recently converted 1820s building, its original features and character have been gently coaxed into the 21st Century to offer 4-Star accommodation for up to four guests in two beautiful bedrooms. Shops, cafes, pubs and Gosport's marinas are within walking distance to make this the perfect self-catering apartment for couples, families or friends to enjoy all year round.

The apartment is in the desirable Clarence Yard complex, where buildings were used to provide food and water to the naval fleet for more than 300 years. It is only half a mile from Priddy's Hard, once the storage site for naval gunpowder and munitions and appropriately now the home of Explosion! Museum of Naval Firepower. A two-mile Waterfront Trail links this museum with the Royal Navy Submarine Museum with many places to stop and admire panoramic views over Portsmouth Harbour and The Solent.

Gosport may be proud of its long naval heritage, but it is far from a town stuck in the past. Sailing and boating are understandably popular with locals and visitors, with the sport celebrated with the annual Gosport Marine Festival every September. Take to the water in a sailing boat, on a jet ski, paddleboard or kayak, or simply jump on the ferry for the short journey across Portsmouth Harbour to Gunwharf Quays shopping centre and Historic Portsmouth Dockyard. The ferry runs every 15-minutes until the early hours of the morning. You can easily plan a day's shopping and sightseeing, or a night of dinner, theatre and clubbing.

Away from town, the beautiful Hampshire coastline beckons with beaches like Lee-on-Solent, Stokes Bay, and Browndown Point. You can hire a bike and cycle around Gosport and Portsmouth's quiet cycling routes, or walk along coastal footpaths. The Alver Valley Country Park is only a five-minute drive from Gosport, while the New Forest National Park is 45-minutes away, and the Isle of Wight is a 25-minute ferry ride from Portsmouth. Winchester, Southampton, the National Motor Museum, and Paultons Park are all about an hour's drive, giving you a wide scope for planning day trips.

Accommodation Comprises:

The Granary is a superb combination of form and function, with original redbrick walls and oak beams complimented by modern furnishings and a contemporary open-plan layout. The apartment is on the second floor but the building has a lift.

  • Living/dining area with a large corner leather sofa, a TV with a DVD player. There are two huge windows framing views over the courtyard to Portsmouth Harbour to Portsdown Hill. A solid oak dining table with four leather dining chairs makes an elegant setting for romantic dinners, family breakfasts, and lazy lunches.
  • Fitted kitchen with beech-effect cabinets that suit the age of the property, paired with modern work surfaces and appliances that include a dishwasher. There is plenty of room for storing food and preparing meals, and the kitchen is well-stocked with utensils, equipment, crockery and glasses.
  • Master bedroom with a kingsize bed, bedside tables with reading lights, and a TV. All beds are made up with fresh white linen for guests arrival, with thick cotton bath towels waiting at the end of the bed.
  • Second bedroom with a zip link bed that can be either a 5ft-wide kingsize or two single beds. Please let the owner know your preferred layout when booking.
  • Modern tiled bathroom with a shower over the bath, heated towel rail, WC and a handbasin.

Additional Information: Utilities, WiFi, bed linen and bath towels are included. A cot and highchair are available on request. Guests to provide cot bedding and beach towels if they are required. The apartment has an allocated parking space and the complex has visitor parking. Smoking and pets are not permitted.

In addition to the rental cost there is a £250 refundable damages deposit, which is fully refundable within 7 working days of your departure, obviously subject to no significant damages or excessive cleaning.
