The Cyder Barn is a charming country cottage on a working farm in East Anstey on the edge of Exmoor National Park. It sleeps four people in two bedrooms and is as welcoming to families (including those with well behaved dogs) as it is for couples and friends. The rural location is perfect for holidaymakers who enjoy being outdoors as much as possible. Exmoor has more than 600 miles of public rights of way for walking, mountain biking and horse riding. Guests who are simply looking for a peaceful place to rest and relax can enjoy sitting in the sunny garden and listening to the birds, or snoozing comfortably on the sofa in front of the log burner.
East Anstey is just over the southern border of Exmoor, 11 miles from Tiverton. It's a quiet village with a school and a church, but its biggest appeal to holidaymakers is its proximity to the national park and the scope for exploration. Local routes to discover include East Anstey Common and the Spire Cross Tarr Steps. You're only within a few miles of the Grand Western Canal and Bickleigh Mill. Tiverton has all of the shops and amenities you'll need for a self-catering holiday, including a major supermarket and places to eat and drink if you don't feel like cooking. Walk around the Norman castle or beside the canal, go on a horse drawn barge trip, or hire a paddleboard, canoe or kayak. Attractions local to The Cyder Barn include National Trust Knighthayes Court, Killerton National Trust gardens and house and Quince Honey Farm.
Go north from the cottage and you'll soon find yourself in Exmoor. Follow designated footpaths around Dulverton, Wimbleball lake, Haddon Hill, Dunkery Beacon and the pretty villages of Withypool and Winsford. Sightsee in places like Dunster, Lynton, Lynmouth, Porlock and Porlock Weir. Go fishing, play golf, or book a guided trek through local stables. The spectacular north Devon beaches of Saunton Sands, Croyde and Woolacombe are all close enough for a day by the sea whilst the popular Tarka Trail near Barnstable is perfect for cyclists and walkers of all ages.
The owners of The Cyder Barn are happy to show guests both the farm and the ongoing and current conservation measures they have in place. The farm also has hard core tracks making it ideal for dog walking. Exmoor has everything you could wish for in a holiday destination. Staying at The Cyder Barn allows you to surround yourself with beauty in all seasons.
