The Farmhouse is one of a collection of five holiday cottages located in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Each holiday home has its own individual charm accommodating two to fifteen guests individually or larger groups of up to 30 guests when rented together (a discount is offered when multiple cottages are booked together). The Farmhouse sleeps fifteen guests in five bedrooms and is the perfect choice for friends and families.
There are fantastic footpaths from the front door, though you may find your favourite route is the half-mile walk to the friendly Fat Lamb Inn.
The farm is in one of the most beautiful spots in Cumbria. Start with a leisurely two-mile walk through meadows to Ravenstonedale then slake your thirst at one of two welcoming pubs in the village. Recreate your favourite Wimbledon moments on the tennis court, or pit your skills against the deceptively challenging golf course where non-members can play either nine or 18 holes. A few miles further away, the pretty market town of Kirkby Stephen has an excellent variety of shops and a regular market every Monday. Sedburgh is also a great place to buy food and other essentials and is an excellent choice for a pie and a pint after scaling the magnificent Howgill Fells. If you have a sweet tooth make time to visit the chocolate shop in the pretty medieval village of Orton or stock up on mint cake in Kendal. England's highest market town is Hawes, half an hour's drive away with a Tuesday market and is a magnet for lovers of Wensleydale cheese, or pack a picnic (cheese optional) and enjoy a picnic beside the River Eden or the castle in Appleby-in-Westmoreland.
There are endless miles of footpaths, cycling routes and bridleways to enjoy, with stabling and paddocks available for guests of Street Farm who want to bring their horse on holiday with them. There is plenty in the Yorkshire Dales National Park to keep you happily occupied no matter what season you are there but, if you yearn for even more then the Lake District National Park is just over half an hour's drive, and the North Pennines AONB and the Forest of Bowland AONB are also within easy reach.
Local attractions include Farfield Mill, Brough Castle, the Stainmore Railway Company, Lowther Castle and Gardens, Ullswater Steamers, the Rheged Centre, and the Bowes Museum in Barnard Castle. Whether your preference is for adrenaline-fulled thrills or sedate activities, it is easy to plan your perfect day.
The cottages at Street Farm are not rented individually so you and your guests will have exclusive use of the facilities. For more information, please see the owner's website.
