Alston Art Apartments have been architecturally designed to provide self-catering accommodation of a high standard for four to five guests or larger parties of up to thirteen if all three cottages are rented together. Nestling in a peaceful position within walking distance of the delightful historic town of Alston, the cottages sit high up in the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
This award winning development offers three Four Star Gold modern apartment style holiday cottages which are available to rent. Each cottage has its own unique character and charm incorporating traditional attractive features such as exposed beams and solid oak floors. Tastefully furnished with the perfect mix of country style and modern convenience, each cottage is presented to a very high standard of comfort and includes paintings and prints by local artists, adding to the charm and ambience of the relaxing environment. There is also free WiFi internet access.
At the heart of the North Pennines ‘Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty’, Alston is a superb place from which to explore this 'hidden gem' of an area which has remained relatively undiscovered and unspoilt over the years. With its beautiful natural landscape with tumbling waterfalls and a wealth of wild and birdlife, it is a great location for outdoor enthusiasts. With a good selection of individual interesting shops, tearooms and inns serving traditional ales and good food, you have everything you should need within walking distance of the cottages. This also includes fantastic local walks from the front door including gentle riverside strolls and more challenging hikes across the fells for the more energetic.
There are plenty of local attractions to visit in the surrounding area including South Tynedale Railway, the Hub Museum and Killhope lead-mining museum where you can discover the history of the area. For those happy to travel a little further afield, in under an hour's drive you can also visit the Northumberland National Park, Durham City and World Heritage Site, Hexham Abbey, Kielder Forest, Penrith, Carlisle, Hadrian's Wall, Upper Teesdale, the Scottish Borders and both the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks.
With so many fantastic places to visit and such naturally beautiful countryside on the doorstep, you will want to return time and time again!
