Alston Art Apartments have been architecturally designed to provide self-catering accommodation of a high standard for four to five guests or larger parties of up to thirteen if all three cottages are rented together. Nestling in a peaceful position within walking distance of the delightful historic town of Alston, the cottages sit high up in the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
This award winning development offers three Four Star Gold modern apartment style holiday cottages which are available to rent. Each apartment is unique in character with lots of charm incorporating traditional attractive features such as exposed timbers and solid oak floors, beautifully mixed with modern conveniences to ensure a high standard of comfort. Tasteful furnishings and local artwork add to the charm and ambience of the relaxing environment. There is also free WiFi internet access.
At the very heart of the North Pennines ‘Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty’, Alston is a superb place for exploring this 'hidden gem' of an area which has remained unspoilt and somewhat undiscovered over the years. With its beautiful natural landscape abundant with wild and birdlife and cascading waterfalls, it is a great location for outdoor enthusiasts. There are a good selection of individual interesting shops, tearooms and traditional inns serving nice food and ales, providing everything you should need within walking distance of the cottages. This also includes fantastic local walks from the front door with gentle riverside strolls to more challenging hikes over the fells for the more energetic.
There are plenty of local attractions to visit in the surrounding area including South Tynedale Heritage Railway (a beautiful journey through the Pennines), the Hub Museum and Killhope award-winning lead mining museum where you can discover the history of the area. For those happy to travel a little further afield, in under an hour's drive you can also visit the Northumberland's stunning National Park, Durham City and World Heritage Site, Hexham Abbey, Kielder Forest, Penrith, Carlisle, Hadrian's Wall, Upper Teesdale, the Scottish Borders and both the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks.
With so many fantastic places to visit and such naturally beautiful countryside on the doorstep, you will want to return time and time again!
