The village of Broad Haven is a quintessential Welsh seaside destination on the Pembrokeshire Coast. If you’re looking for things to do during your stay, read our recommendations below.

Where to Go in Broad Haven

The main attraction in Broad Haven is the beach named after the village. The huge stretch of sand is flanked by cliffs on either side and has plenty of room for lots of visitors to host picnics, build sandcastles and go paddling in the sea.

Despite the small size of the village, there’s actually a great range of places to eat and drink. If you’re staying in Broad Haven, spend your evenings checking out the local pubs and restaurants to support local businesses and enjoy the village atmosphere.

Stack Rock Fort is in the nearby town of Gelliswick and is a great place to visit for an afternoon excursion. Located on a little island in the Milford Haven Waterway, this 19th-century, island fort can be viewed from the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path and is an impressive Grade II* listed building.

What to Do in Broad Haven

Broad Haven is positioned along the route of the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, which is an incredibly popular Welsh walking trail. You can stroll along a section of the route or plan to tackle the whole thing and use Broad Haven as a place to stop and give your feet a rest for a night or two.

The huge beach in Broad Haven means that watersports are one of the most popular things to do for visitors to the village. Surfing, sea kayaking, canoeing and swimming are all available in the area and are all great ways to enjoy the water and try something new during your stay.

If you’ve had your fill of the village and its beach, Broad Haven is ideally positioned to visit buzzing St Davids; the smallest city in Britain and one of Wales’ top destinations. Here you can enjoy a wide range of attractions, from ferry rides to other locations on the coast to galleries and historic buildings that are open to the public.

Best Time to Visit Broad Haven

Broad Haven is a seaside holiday destination, so if you’re planning on spendings lots of your time on the beach then the best time to visit is in either July or August when the weather in Britain is likely to be at its warmest. The huge expanse of sand will be at its busiest on really hot days and the weekends, but there’s no better time than summer to enjoy swimming in the sea or playing on the beach with your family.
