Jay's Nest is perfect if you want somewhere quiet for a romantic weekend away in the Lake District. The one bedroom apartment is in a peaceful location, just a 10-minute stroll to the heart of Windermere with Bowness and the lake being only five further minutes. Everything you need for a memorable holiday is within reach, including friendly pubs like The Crafty Baa and The Pig, yet the peaceful location is calming and private.
Windermere is one of the most popular regions of the Lake District National Park with good reason. It is breathtaking. As the largest natural lake in England, the scale of Windermere never fails to impress, and there are lots of ways to enjoy being on the water whether you sail or paddle yourself or you book a seat on one the regular ferries or sightseeing services. Those who love being on the water will enjoy the exhibits at the Windermere Jetty Museum of Boats, Steam and Stories in nearby Bowness.
The lake acts as a mirror for the hills and mountains which surround it, doubling their beauty by reflecting it in the surface of the water. Step outside the door of Jay's Nest and you have almost immediate access to footpaths and cycling routes which lead you to the lake and the surrounding landscape, giving you first-hand knowledge of why this is one of the most popular holiday locations not only in England but in the entire of the British Isles.
Nearby attractions include Tarn Hows, Wray Castle, and the Beatrix Potter Gallery. Grasmere is also within easy reach, and there is always something fun and new to experience thanks to the area's year-round calendar of events that includes everything from sheepdog trials to horse racing. Windermere Golf Club (sometimes referred to as a "miniature Gleneagles" for the quality of the 18-hole course and the views) is also only a five-minute drive from the apartment.
The Lake District National Park is the sort of holiday destination you can visit time after time, discovering a new favourite view, footpath or village teashop or pub every time. Staying at Jay's Nest makes it simple to explore, even if you do not have a car.
