3 (all year)
This farmhouse full of character dates back to the 18th Century and has been converted into three Four Star Gold Award holiday cottages that still retain many lovely original features including exposed stone walls, fabulous beams and feature fireplaces with wood burning stoves. The cottages also all have their own private hot tubs and are ideal for a holiday all year round. Accommodating parties of two to eight guests individually or larger family groups of up to fourteen when rented together (unfortunately no stags or hens), flexible holiday accommodation is provided.
Set on the owner’s working beef farm, this is a wonderful peaceful haven in the West corner of Cumbria near to the coast, with the peaks of the Lake District National Park, and the Wasdale hills and valley making a stunning backdrop. Offering something for everyone, the farm offers guided visits on request and the choice of self-catering, camping or caravanning.
Within just five minutes on foot you have a beautiful beach where the little ones can play on the sands and adults can enjoy a romantic stroll as the sun sets in the sky. Walk to Halsenna Moor (it's just up the country lane), a National Nature Reserve with an abundance of wildlife that can often be spotted as you explore the marked walks (red squirrels, foxes, an abundance of birdlife and even deer are often seen). Another short stroll takes you to Spindlecraft, a quaint craft shop, and also the railway station which provides the option of exploring the area via public transport.
Locally there are a number of great days out and attractions. Visit Muncaster Castle with its lovely gardens and Hawk and Owl centre, or take a trip on the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway - a leisurely way of soaking up the scenery and both a short distance away by car. For those happy to venture slightly further afield, the tourist hot-spots of Lake Windermere (along with nearby Ambleside), Coniston Water, Grasmere (famed for its sticky toffee pudding!) and Hawkshead are all within easy reach - a pleasant drive via Hardknott Pass with lovely views enroute as you traverse the hills!
The Victoria Hotel is the nearest pub to the cottages and is just under a mile and within walking distance. There are also a number of restaurants and traditional pubs dotted around the area, where you can enjoy traditional ales and good home-made food using fantastic local produce.
Seascale which is just a mile up the road features a lovely little ice cream parlour/café perfect to get an Ice cream on a hot summers day, as well as this there are a couple of pubs/restaurants, two bakery’s one of which has a seating area, a Chinese takeaway and a small co op supermarket to get all the essentials.
