About Brambly Hedge

Brambly Hedge is a gorgeous holiday cottage in the Lake District. It's a wonderful mix of rural charm and modern luxuries, seamlessly blending the two to offer a high standard of accommodation that suits families or friends. The views, including those of the night skies, are amazing, and there is plenty of space for playing ball games, washing off your mountain bike, and sitting with a drink beside the barbecue. The house comfortably sleeps six people in three beautifully decorated bedrooms. Brambly Hedge is in the tiny village of Field Broughton, close to Cartmel, Grange-over-Sands and Windermere.

Field Broughton is lovely, with far-reaching views over fields and countryside, a church, and a beck that passes the cottage at the bottom of the garden. It's the perfect retreat as it's wonderfully peaceful without being isolated. Just two miles away, the picturesque medieval village of Cartmel awaits. Home of the original sticky toffee pudding recipe, a three Michelin star restaurant, and a variety of independent boutiques, cafes and pubs, you'll find everything you need for your self-catering holiday. Save an hour or two to admire 12th Century Cartmel Priory and the Gatehouse, visit nearby Holker Hall, and spectate at one of the exciting steeplechase events at the racecourse.

You'll certainly feel relaxed during your stay at Brambly Hedge, but there's never any reason to be bored. This area is packed with all sorts of sights and attractions, with something to appeal to everyone in any season. The beautiful waters of Windermere and Fell Foot Park are only four miles from the cottage - close enough to walk or cycle if you want to leave the car behind. Run by the National Trust, it has lovely walks, access to the water for paddleboarding, kayaking and boating, picnic spots and plenty more. Ulverston, Kendal and Coniston are all within easy reach for shopping, sightseeing and dining out.

Brambly Hedge is available for bookings all year round. Short breaks (minimum of three nights) are possible, depending on availability.

Accommodation Comprises:

Brambly Hedge has a traditional layout with the living spaces on the ground floor and the bedrooms upstairs. It's decorated in a chic, timeless style that suits contemporary guests and harmonises with the gardens and countryside views.

Downstairs:

  • If you're not relaxing in the garden, chances are you'll be in the spacious living room, stretching out on the big L-shaped sofa in front of the log burner, watching TV or admiring the garden views through glass bi-fold doors.
  • Even reluctant cooks will find self-catering simple in the stylish kitchen with Bosch appliances and a convenient Quooker boiling tap. Thanks to the U-shaped layout and big windows that look onto the garden and the countryside beyond, there's loads of natural light. There is a dining table that seats six.
  • Big shower room with underfloor heating, a heated towel rail, a walk-in shower, WC and a handbasin.

Upstairs:

  • Two of the house's three bedrooms have king-sized beds and are beautifully furnished to create a private place to retreat at the end of the day. Both rooms have rural views and an HD Smart TV.
  • A third bedroom is a lovely twin room with two single beds and an HD Smart TV.
  • Modern family bathroom with a bath with shower over, WC and a handbasin.

Outside: The south-west facing garden gets sunshine all day long. It has a fantastic patio with outdoor seating and a charcoal garden. The lawn leads down to the stream, and there's an adjacent field with horses. A separate area has slate mulch and water for you to wash off your mountain bike after a fun day of exploration and adventure. There is parking for two to three cars, with an electric vehicle charging point available by prior arrangement.
