About Lymington and the New Forest

Lymington is bustling rather than busy. The Saturday morning market in the High Street has roots going back more than 800 years and there are pretty Georgian shops, independent boutiques and cafes galore. Not only does it have quick access to the fantastic New Forest walking trails, cycle paths and bridleways, it boasts two marinas and a long history as a popular sailing resort. Revive yourself with a dip in the seawater swimming baths, complete with children’s paddling pool and sandpit, spend a day on a yacht, or explore four miles of unspoiled coastal nature reserve that is a dedicated Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).

Walking around Lymington is a real treat, with red brick Victorian and Georgian buildings, white picket fences and lots of opportunity for happy browsing. The Solent Way Walk runs for 60 miles along the Hampshire coastline and has entry points just behind the saltwater baths and via the Marina. Walk out along the coast, enjoying views over the Solent to the Isle of Wight and return via country lanes, stopping for lunch in a friendly pub along the way.

With a wide selection of self-catering accommodation in Lymington, it’s ideal for your getaway, whether you’re enjoying a relaxing solo break or meeting up with family and friends for a fun-packed holiday.
