The Old Chapel is a delightful converted chapel just outside the peaceful New Forest village of Sway, a relaxed stroll from three village pubs including the Hare & Hounds, a village shop, pharmacy, butchers, and a well-loved cafe/deli. This spacious and stylish ground-floor studio is perfect for couples, with space to accommodate a small family thanks to a king-sized bed and a day bed that converts into two singles. The open-plan living area is welcoming and well-designed, with a cosy sofa, electric ‘wood-burning’ stove, dining table, and fully equipped kitchen. There’s a modern bathroom with a bath and separate shower and outside, a private seating area where you can watch New Forest ponies and donkeys wander past as the sun goes down.
You can access open forest trails from the door, perfect for walking or cycling through the New Forest National Park. The cottage is just a short drive from Brockenhurst, where you can hire bikes, picnic by the river, or take a scenic train journey. The Georgian market town of Lymington is also nearby, offering independent shops, a bustling Saturday market, and a picturesque quay where you can join boat trips on the Solent. Lyndhurst, known as the ‘capital’ of the New Forest, has a great selection of tearooms, pubs, and the New Forest Heritage Centre—ideal for discovering more about the area’s unique history and wildlife.
For beach lovers, the coast is just 20 minutes away. Visit Milford-on-Sea for beach walks and fish and chips, or explore Barton-on-Sea’s fossil-rich cliffs and panoramic views across to the Isle of Wight. Further afield, spend a day at Beaulieu Motor Museum, explore the beautiful Exbury Gardens, or take a ferry from Lymington to Yarmouth for a day on the Isle of Wight. This welcoming, dog-friendly retreat is one of three charming cottages in the same setting. The Old Chapel is a large studio cottage with separate areas for cooking, eating, sleeping, and relaxing. It's dog-friendly and has no internal stairs.
Outside: A converted porch, flowering climbers, and potted plants create a welcoming entrance to your home-from-home. There is casual seating outside, and parking for two cars on the driveway.
Additional Information: Utilities, WiFi, bed linen and bath towels are provided. Your dog is welcome @ £16 per stay, but please bring their bed, towel, and blanket. Travel cot and high chair are available on request. A welcome pack includes a few breakfast essentials together with tea, coffee and sugar. Smoking is not permitted. We also charge a one off cleaning fee of £45.
