Wintershead affords a wonderful idyllic position within the Exmoor National Park on the Devon/Somerset border - far enough away from the hustle and bustle of modern living for you to relax in this stunning tame wilderness which is home to the famous Exmoor ponies, red deer and gracious buzzards soaring up above.
The owner offers a high standard of self catering accommodation in five charming holiday cottages which provide a relaxing and friendly atmosphere. Surround by a courtyard, the cottages have all been imaginatively converted and retain all their original character and charm.
Wintershead has extensive grounds (of some eleven acres!) and an idyllic setting surrounded by lush rolling countryside. Whilst enjoying a remote peaceful setting, there are plenty of nearby villages with pubs and restaurants where you can enjoy a meal. The little village of Simonsbath is three miles away; Exford is five miles further and the lovely country market town of South Molton in Devon is ten miles.
This is a great base for exploring Exmoor and enjoying everything the 'great outdoors' has to offer. Walkers and cyclists have close access to open moorland and there are miles of bridleways for horse riders to explore (facilities can be provided if you wish to bring your own horse and there is horse riding available nearby). North Devon and also Cornwall's beautiful dramatic coastlines, dotted with golden beaches such as Combe Martin and Croyde (a surfers paradise!) are great for a day trip out and easily accessible by car.

Additional information: Beds are made with freshly laundered linen upon arrival. There is a separate communal laundry room for guests use with automatic washing machine, tumble dryer and pay phone, however, Beech Cottage also has its own washing machine. Ample parking is available and there are eleven acres of grounds for guests to enjoy, providing a safe environment for children to play. Pets welcome by arrangement (nominal cost applies) and horse stabling is available (with DIY livery with straw and a five acre paddock for grazing - please call the owner for further information and costs). There is a games room which is centrally heated, offering table tennis, pool table, local information etc.
