Hutton House Cottage is a traditional Cumbrian self-catering cottage with plenty of space and period charm. Located a short walk from the village shop in Burton-in-Kendal, its stone walls, timber floors and solid oak beams provide a welcome haven from the pace of 21st Century living. The two-bedroom holiday home has a king and a superking/twin single beds. It is ideal for couples, friends or families who love having easy access to the spectacular scenery of the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks, and the Forest of Bowland and Arnside & Silverdale Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It's wonderfully central yet off the busy tourist trail.
Burton-in-Kendal is a pretty village with a long history. It's far from a tourist trap, allowing you to settle into the Cumbrian way of life, even if only for a week or two. As with many small villages, life centres around the pub, which serves real ales and a seasonal menu using meat and vegetables from local farms. Walking is a favourite pastime. There is a scenic walk to Hutton Roof Crags and Dalton Crags, which passes through woodland and along part of the Lancashire Canal with views towards Ingleborough and the Pennines if it's not cloudy. Bridleways and other mountain bike-accessible trails also make this area popular with off-road cyclists.
Being close to the Lake District means you can spend time in Kendal and Windermere. Morecambe Bay is five miles or less than 15-minutes from the cottage, and there are many opportunities to swim, fish and sail. Kirkby Stephen and Kirkby Lonsdale are excellent for a day out, while the lights of Blackpool are under an hour's drive. Head north for an hour to reach Keswick, Scafell Pike, and Ullswater. Burton in Kendal has an excellent bus service, direct to Kendal, Windermere, Ambleside and Keswick to the North, Carnforth and Lancaster to the South for train connections. Clawthorpe Hall Business and Training Centre is only 0.6 of a mile away.
Hutton House Cottage is available for short breaks, but you'll want to book for longer with so much beauty to explore from the doorstep.
