This semi-detached holiday cottage is located on the west side of the Whinlatter Pass within an acre of land with a stream running through it. It was built in the 1930s and was formerly the residence of foresters working for the forestry commission.
The current owners have owned the cottage for over forty years and are active fell walkers. The house underwent major refurbishment in 2008 and now provides lovely comfortable accommodation in the heart of Wainwright’s north western fells.
There is outstanding scenery on all sides with forest walks and fell-walking from the house.
Within the local area (within one mile) is the Whinlatter Forest Centre with walking, mountain biking, numerous trails, a café, restaurant and many amusements for children.
Nearby lakes include Bassenthwaite three miles, Loweswater five miles and Derwentwater six miles. The pretty village of Lorton is just two miles and Braithwaite is three, both providing grocery stores and country pubs providing meals.
Keswick and Cockermouth are six miles away and are both pleasant market towns with supermarkets and swimming pools and Keswick has a theatre, cinema and numerous tourist facilities and attractions.

The cottage sleeps up to seven guests and accommodation comprises:
One triple bedroom (double bed with single bunk above).
Master bedroom with queen size bed.
One single bedroom with additional single mattress underneath if required.
Living/Dining room with two sofas, 32” LCD television with Freesat HD, DVD player, iPod docking station with speakers, dining table with six chairs and a lovely coal fire - perfect for curling up in front of on those chilly nights.
Kitchen with electric oven and four ring hob, microwave, dish-washer, fridge-freezer and washer-drier.
Bathroom containing bath, separate shower, hand-basin and WC.
Porch with numerous hooks and boot-rack.
Outside: The cottage is set within an acre of its own grounds with stream passing through, providing plenty of space for children to let off steam or for relaxing on those lazy sunny days! There is a patio area with barbeque where you can eat alfresco and take in those beautiful views.
Additional information: The cottage has oil-fired central heating. There is parking for four cars (car is essential). Dogs and children of all ages welcome. No smoking. Heating/electricity costs included in the rent, linen not provided. Coal bunker outside.
