The Classrooms provides 4 Star accommodation and is situated forty five minutes from Inverness on the south shores of Loch Ness in one of Scotland’s most unique and picturesque settings. The apartment is located in St Benedict’s Abbey, Fort Augustus within its twenty acres of grounds surrounded by water on three sides by the Caledonian canal and the River Tarff flowing into the famous Loch Ness.

This is an ideal getaway for families or couples looking for a romantic break in beautiful and tranquil surroundings and also perfect for those who enjoy outdoor activities. You can park the car and make the most of the excellent facilities including tennis court, croquet lawn, BBQ area, children’s adventure playground, boules, club lounge with full size snooker table, table tennis swimming pool (available from Spring 2012) and a spa with a nine hole golf course just five minutes away. On the waters edge within the grounds is the Boathouse restaurant serving delicious locally sourced food and produce and clay pigeon shooting, archery and white water rafting are all available on site to make this a memorable holiday.

Apart from Nessie hunting there is much to do around this area including trout fishing from the grounds, taking a sail on the loch onboard the Royal Scot as it sails from within a few minute's walk from the apartment. Take the children on the Hogwart’s Express from Fort William to Mallaig and ride on the train as Harry Potter did over the Glenfinnan Viaduct. Horse riding is also nearby and there are many walks around Fort Augustus and the Great Glen to enjoy.

Alternatively, use The Classrooms as a fantastic base from which to tour the Scottish Highlands as it is easy to reach Skye, the silver sands of the west coast, sail with the dolphins in the Moray firth or visit the numerous castles of Urquhart, Cawdor, Inverness, Brodie, Dunrobin, the famous Eilean Donan Castle and Fort George - all situated in little more than one hour's drive away. Of course there is always a visit to a Scots whisky distillery and Glenmorangie, Dalwhinnie and Ben Nevis are within easy reach as well as the Cairngorm National Park.

St Benedict’s Abbey has an interesting history and is one of North of Scotland’s national heritage buildings and is grade A listed. The Abbey, positioned on the foundations of the original Fort Augustus military garrison (built 1729), was built by the Benedictine monks in 1876 and was run with a school until 1998. Today it provides luxury holiday accommodation in the Highland Club Loch Ness resort and development with superb indoor and outdoor facilities for families and couples looking for relaxing, adventurous or sporting holidays.

A few minute's walk will take you into the heart of Fort Augustus village where you will find a good selection of shops, hotels, pubs and restaurants to meet your everyday needs.

The Classrooms affords lovely views over open lawns, the Caledonian canal and beyond to the mountains of the Great glen which are forever changing with the weather and the seasons. Its facilities are more spacious than most and include a large separate lounge, fully fitted kitchen and dining area, two bedrooms and two bathrooms (one ensuite).
