Allt na Braighe is an exceptionally pleasant three-bedroom detached cottage in one of the most desirable locations within the Cairngorms National Park. As it sleeps six people, it is perfect for families or groups of friends who want to be near all the action yet maintain their own space. The holiday cottage is only a short walk from a supermarket, bike hire and a great fish and chip shop, and less than a mile from family friendly restaurants like The Winking Owl and Skiing Doo.
Aviemore is a small but lively Highland town. The small local population of 2,400 relies heavily on tourists and it caters very well for them with an excellent array of shops, restaurants and amenities. A number of reputable activity centres are based in the town so if you want a guide to take you hiking or white water rafting, or you need a spare part for your mountain bike and some advice on local trails, you’ll easily find it.
The Spey Valley Golf Course is nearby, and there is plenty of chance to land a big one either bait or fly fishing at Craggan Outdoors or Rothiemurchus. If that sounds a little tame, Zip Trek Adventure Park is around a 15-minute drive from Allt na Braighe and, of course, there’s skiing in winter and mountain biking the rest of the year.
You can drive to CairnGorm Mountain from Allt na Braighe, but many visitors find it just as easy to take the regular bus service from the centre of town, which takes around half an hour. The CairnGorm funicular railway is, at 3,500 feet, the highest in the UK, and affords incredible views. A great way to see it is with a guided walk to the top before taking the mountain railway back to the bottom.
Inverness is around 45-minutes by car. Historic Culloden is even closer, as is Kingussie with the Highland Wildlife Park. Aviemore is close enough to the most beautiful spots in the Cairngorms National Park without being so remote that you can’t enjoy other Highland attractions. Whether you’re in Aviemore to ski, mountain bike, or hike the fantastic trails, you will find Allt na Braighe a very comfortable place to stay.
