Strayside Cottage is a perfectly located holiday cottage on the edge of Harrogate, on a quiet residential street that's a stone's throw from The Stray and a 15-minute stroll from the town centre. Everything you need is close to hand, including a mainline train station if you want to explore further afield. It is also a good base for anyone visiting an event at the Harrogate Convention Centre or the Harrogate Show Ground. The two-bedroom property comfortably sleeps four people and there is also an armchair sofa bed in one of the bedrooms that can sleep an extra child. The cottage has recently been refurbished to give couples, families and friends a fantastic experience where they can enjoy all of the comforts of home.
Harrogate always delivers. This gorgeous town was a favourite spa town of the Victorians, though the health-giving benefits of the spring waters have been known for centuries. The highly decorated and beautifully restored Turkish Baths provide a unique bathing experience and a host of indulgent spa treatments that will leave you squeaky clean and refreshed. Another traditional treat to enjoy while in Harrogate is a high tea at Betty's Tearooms (they also make a decent cup of coffee). Yorkshire is famous for its love of tea, and the family who owns the tearooms created the Yorkshire Tea blend specifically to suit Yorkshire's water. You'll need a good pick-me-up after a day's shopping in Harrogate's many independent shops and boutiques.
Walking and cycling are highly respected pastimes in Yorkshire, where locals understand the physical and mental benefits of spending time in this incredible landscape. Harrogate is on the end of the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and within easy reach of the Yorkshire Dales National Park and the Howardian Hills. Whether your preference is for a gentle ramble, a strenuous hill-climb, a lengthy road cycle or a challenging mountain bike ride, you'll find plenty of options.
Outside Harrogate, you can explore charming towns such as Ripon, Knaresborough, Masham, Pateley Bridge and Boroughbridge. York and Leeds are within easy reach for a day out, as is magnificent Castle Howard, Fountain's Abbey, and Bolton Priory. Strayside Cottage is wonderfully welcoming all year round.
