Ravenscraig House is a charming cottage in Staithes on the North Yorkshire Coast. There is space for up to eight people to sleep in four bedrooms, making this period property ideal for families and groups of friends who love being within walking distance of Staithes' harbour and fantastic pubs like the waterfront Cod & Lobster, while enjoying the space and privacy that this lovely townhouse affords its guests.
Despite its popularity as a holiday destination, Staithes still feels authentic, with twisty cobbled lanes that lead down to the harbour. In days gone by, Staithes was a busy fishing port, and it is still easy to enjoy a delicious meal of fish or seafood caught fresh that day. Staithes is sheltered by coastal cliffs which are ideal for a relaxing walk along footpaths to places like Port Mulgrave, Cowbar Nab and Boulby Cliffs. Alternatively, walk down to the small beach by the harbour and fossick for fossils in the rock pools. The Yorkshire Coast is renowned for the quality of its beaches which also include Runswick Bay, Whitby, Sandsend, Saltburn and Robin Hood's Bay. The long-distance Cleveland Way footpath passes by Staithes, and you also have the option of heading inland to the miles of trails, cycle routes and bridleways of the North York Moors National Park.
The peace and natural beauty of Staithes have made it a favourite place for artists to live and visit, and there is a thriving community of painters, writers and other creative people who display and sell their work through local galleries. Staithes also has an excellent museum, the Captain Cook & Staithes Heritage Centre and independent shops, cafes and pubs, as well as a small supermarket on the outskirts of the village.
Staithes is a brilliant holiday destination at any time of year whether you want to relax on a sandy beach, ramble along footpaths and enjoy the incredible views, or spend time discovering the individual character of the North York Moors picturesque towns and villages. The warmth of the Yorkshire welcome is no myth and you can experience it for yourself at Ravenscraig House.
