Woodside is a welcoming holiday cottage in a beautiful location in the Lake District National Park within walking distance of Lake Windermere and the Cumbrian village of Lakeside where you can take a lake cruise and steam train. The former mill worker's home has been lovingly restored and sympathetically modernised to offer a high standard of accommodation for up to six people in three bedrooms, being both family and dog-friendly. Whether it's your first time in the Lake District or you are a regular visitor, Woodside is the perfect retreat for couples, families and friends.
The Lake District is a fantastic holiday location in every season. There are excellent footpaths and cycling routes from the door of the cottage, with both Lake Windermere and High Dam being within walking distance. Despite its popularity as a holiday destination for millions of people every year, there are still vast areas of the national park where you can walk for miles and barely see another soul, able to enjoy big-sky views and the sound of birdsong.
Lake Windermere is a watersport hot spot with sailing, kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding and fishing all readily available. The town is a favourite with holidaymakers, and there is an excellent choice of places to eat, drink and shop, with many cafes and pubs in the area welcoming well-behaved dogs on the premises. It's possible to arrange a guided tour with a local instructor, while regular hop-on-hop-off boat tours around the lake make sightseeing a breeze.
The award-winning Stott Park Bobbin Mill, for which Woodside once housed mill workers, is a few steps from the cottage. The Lakeside Hotel is also within walking distance with a public bar for a drink or meal out. Other local attractions include the Lakes Aquarium, the Windermere Steam Boat Museum, Fell Foot Park, the World of Beatrix Potter, and the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway. There are historic houses such as Hill Top and Blackwell, beautiful gardens, riding stables and golf courses. Slightly further afield but still within reach for a day out are Kendal, Grasmere and Grange-over-Sands.
The owners are keen to ensure their guests squeeze every moment of fun from their holiday and end their stay feeling relaxed, refreshed and ready to face the world. They are now able to offer guests free entrance into Cascades Spa, two miles away at Backbarrow with heated indoor pool, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and gym (note children under 14 years are permitted to use the pool, table tennis, squash and tennis facilities only). Therapies are available to book directly with Cascades, including massage, facials, beauty treatments etc and there is also a thermal spa providing an exclusive health and beauty experience (at an additional cost).
