Whether you are looking for somewhere cosy for a family Christmas, want to get together with your friends for a catch up, or are planning a milestone celebration, Wensleydale House provides a welcoming retreat at any time of the year. Right in the heart of the thriving Dales market town of Leyburn, guests have a good selection of restaurants, pubs and amenities within strolling distance.
Leyburn is situated in Lower Wensleydale which is an exceptionally scenic area where people are known for their hospitality and genuine warmth. Being at the centre of Yorkshire's best known Dale, it makes a perfect base for exploring the lovely villages and enjoying the beautiful scenery that both Wensleydale and the Yorkshire Dales have to offer. The town itself offers a wide range of interesting independently owned shops where excellent local produce can be purchased along with lovely gifts.
You will be spoilt for choice in this area with award winning restaurants and gastro pubs where you can indulge yourself in excellent cuisine and wonderful local ales. Being on the edge of the Dales National Park, you also have many excellent walks to enjoy from a gentle stroll, to a more invigorating challenge.
There are no end of attractions and places of interest to visit in this beautiful area. Enjoy a long leisurely lunch at one of the excellent gastro pubs or restaurants like the Sandpiper in Leyburn and the Wensleydale Heifer at West Witton. Lose an afternoon wandering around Thorpe Perrow Arboretum with its Birds of Prey centre. The little ones will love a day at the Forbidden Corner, a visit to the Lightwater Valley Theme Park or being king of the castle at Castle Bolton, Richmond Castle or Jervaulx Abbey. Take a nostalgic trip on the Wensleydale Railway, take in a production at Richmond Theatre or enjoy the excitement of bidding for antiques at Tennants Auction House. The choices are endless with pretty timeless villages to visit as well as York City steeped in history and culture, and an abundance of opportunities for outdoor adventure whether you love walking, cycling and mountain biking.

The owners have made Wensleydale House feel welcoming and homely with lovely fabrics, rugs on the floors, original paintings and scatter cushions, complemented by characterful period colours. Big bay windows let the light flood in and provide views over Wensleydale.

Outside: There is a garden to the front where you can sit and soak up the lovely view, as well as a shaded small area to the rear. Guests staying at Wensleydale House also have the bonus of off-road parking for up to four vehicles and dedicated 7KW EV charger
Additional information: Please note: Whilst Wensleydale House is set well back (apx sixty foot) from the road, at times traffic noise can be heard when you are sitting in the garden (this is less noticeable of an evening). Fast Wi-Fi. Up to two well- behaved dogs welcome, but must be kept to ground floor rooms. Short breaks available all year round. Prices include bedlinen and towels.
