About The Birdith Hand

Bird ith Hand Manor is a magnificent converted pub that combines luxury with Yorkshire charm in the heart of the Calder Valley. This exceptional holiday cottage accommodates 17 guests in 9 beautifully appointed bedrooms and is popular for extended families, groups of friends, corporate team-building retreats, and special celebrations that require an unforgettable setting. The manor showcases stunning original stone features and exposed timber beams that capture centuries of heritage, whilst floor-to-ceiling windows frame breathtaking views across the rolling Pennine hills. Modern luxury seamlessly blends with historical character, creating an atmosphere of warmth and sophistication that impresses from the start. A highlight is the private hot tub set among 2 acres of mature gardens for the ultimate relaxation experience after days exploring Yorkshire's magnificent countryside. The friendly Summit pub lies within comfortable strolling distance, serving hearty meals and local ales beside the canal towpath.

Todmorden pulses with genuine Yorkshire character as a thriving market town where independent shops, welcoming cafés, and traditional pubs create a vibrant community atmosphere. The famous Incredible Edible project adds contemporary charm with community gardens dotting the streets, where visitors can pick fresh herbs and vegetables grown by local volunteers. The town's fascinating industrial heritage is beautifully preserved in its architecture, with the busy canal and railway network still an integral part of daily life. Excellent facilities include Morrison's and Lidl supermarkets alongside bustling indoor and outdoor markets that bring locals together throughout the week. The Hippodrome Theatre presents various productions throughout the year, while the Toy and Model Museum offers fascinating entertainment for all ages. A short stroll leads to Centre Vale Park, where sculpture trails wind through tranquil memorial gardens beneath the wooded slopes of Buckley Wood.

The wider Calder Valley opens up endless possibilities for adventure and exploration, with both the legendary Pennine Way and scenic Calderdale Way passing directly through this walker's paradise. Hebden Bridge beckons just 5 miles away along the picturesque canal towpath, its bohemian atmosphere filled with quirky shops, artisanal cafés, and the famous old cinema, which serves tea and scones at intervals. The Yorkshire Dales stretch northward, offering spectacular limestone landscapes, while the Peak District National Park lies south, with its dramatic moorland vistas - both perfect for hiking, cycling, and photography. Families will love Hollingworth Lake Country Park, just 10 minutes away, where windsurfing, sailing, rowing, and mountain biking create active adventures for all ages. Literary enthusiasts can explore the nearby town of Haworth and the Brontë Parsonage Museum. The vibrant cities of Manchester and Leeds lie within 25 miles, easily accessible by car or train from Walsden station, just 1.5 miles away, with direct services to Manchester city centre taking only 20 minutes.
