About Park House

Park House is heavenly. The charming Grade-II listed cottage is in a quiet location that is convenient for Grantham and close to popular wedding venues that include Harlaxton Manor, Belvoir Castle, and The Chequers Inn at Woolsthorpe; and within walking distance of The Gregory Arms pub and village shop in Harlaxton. The house sleeps up to eight guests in four bedrooms plus two infants, with a flexible layout that can be adapted to suit families or friends.

Harlaxton is a beautiful village, best known for the stunning Grade-I listed Harlaxton Manor. Not only is this a fantastic wedding venue, but its wider grounds are open for guests to enjoy all year round. The Grantham Canal is another favourite choice for a scenic walk or cycle. It links Harlaxton to Woolsthorpe by Belvoir, where The Dirty Duck is an ideal stop for a pint and a pub lunch.

A popular day out for guests is a visit to Belvoir Castle in the Vale of Belvoir and its unique retail village, The Engine Yard. Restored to its breathtaking original glory over two years, the Capability Brown designed gardens and the castle are open for visitors and only six miles away from the cottage.

The market town of Grantham is a five minute drive away, with a wealth of places to eat, drink and shop, as well as amenities that include a leisure centre, cinema, bowling alley, soft-play centre and a trampoline park. Belton House, gardens and adventure playground (National Trust), Woolsthorpe Manor and science discovery centre (National Trust), where the apple tree that inspired Sir Isaac Newton to discover the theory of gravity still stands in the gardens of his childhood home. For a relaxing spa day, there's Eden Hall Spa in Elston near Newark, or for something more energetic, there's Twin Lakes Family Theme Park in Melton Mowbray.

Accommodation Comprises:

Park House is a characterful, grade II listed, red brick and stone cottage with original parts dating from 1800. It has been extended over the centuries to provide enough space for up to eight people (plus two infants), with accommodation over two levels.

Downstairs:

  • Huge living/dining room with gorgeous oak beams and lots of natural light. The living room has three comfortable sofas, a welcoming open fire, and a TV with a DVD player and Freeview channels. The dining table seats eight people and looks fantastic when dressed up for celebration meals like Christmas, New Year and birthdays.
  • Second reception room or Snug with a log burner, sofa and armchairs, and a DVD player.
  • Kitchen with oak beams and a solid wood table seating up to six people which can be used for casual meals, kitchen suppers, or as an extra workspace when preparing food. Appliances include a dishwasher and in the separate utility room, there's a washing machine for guests' convenience. The owner has thoughtfully provided a supply of essentials such as tea, coffee, dishwasher tablets, etc.
  • Shower room with a shower, WC and a handbasin. There are grab rails in the shower and by the WC for guests who may need them.
  • Bedroom with zip-link beds that can be configured either as a super-king or two single beds, depending on guests' preference.

Upstairs:

  • Two double rooms, each of which has a king-size bed, bedside tables with reading lights, and lovely views over the garden.
  • Third bedroom which can be configured either as a twin or a double room.
  • Family bathroom with a freestanding roll top bath.
  • Shower room with an electric shower, basin and a WC.
  • Family friendly touches include the provision of a full-sized pine cot and a travel cot/playpen (guests to provide cot bedding), two highchairs, stairgate, blackout blind, fireguards, and a choice of books, games and toys.

Outside: The walled garden is a sheltered suntrap and delightful in every season with outdoor seating, a parasol and a barbecue. The private driveway provides parking for six or seven cars, and there is also secure bike storage.

Additional Inforamtion: All utilities, WiFi, bedding, towels and an initial supply of fuel for the fire and wood burner are provided. Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome free-of-charge when booking directly through the owner's website. Smoking is not permitted. Short breaks are possible all year round.
