Sandes by Water is perfect for families and friends who like to spread out and enjoy their own space, yet still spend time socialising with each other. Four double bedrooms comfortably sleep eight guests, with a sofa bed providing the option to accommodate an extra person if required.
The house sits on five private acres in the village of Goxhill, just south of the beautiful Humber Estuary in North Lincolnshire, close to a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Ramblers and cyclists love this area for the variety of excellent routes that lead through the beautiful countryside, and there are also good pubs for a meal out within a mile or two from the property. Goxhill is a friendly village with a train station, Co-op grocery shop and, around a mile from the cottage, Shawbriggs Farm Shop. Five miles away, Barton-on-Humber has more amenities including independent shops, cafes, takeaways and a good range of pubs. There is a nature reserve which attracts birdwatchers and a leisure centre with gym, pool, badminton etc.
Barton-on-Humber is best known for the incredible suspension bridge which spans the width of the Humber. Choose a clear day and walk across it to enjoy some of the best views in Lincolnshire. There is free car parking and a nature trail on the Barton side, as well as some lovely walks along the foreshore at Hessle.
The seaside resort of Cleethorpes is around half an hour’s drive, or you can catch the train directly from Goxhill. Cleethorpes is a fun day out for the whole family, with a vintage steam railway, country park, boating lake and children’s play area as well as the flat expanse of clean sandy beach with a traditional pier and promenade. A walk from the beach to Tetney will take you along Tetney Marshes, passing several WWII fortifications and giving great views. If it is too cold for the beach but you are desperate to swim, Cleethorpes Leisure Centre has a large indoor swimming pool with a wave machine and slide.
Other places to visit during your stay at Sandes by Water include Hull, the UK City of Culture 2017, with a wealth of shops, theatres, museums and galleries, as well as The Deep Aquarium. Do not miss a trip to beautiful Beverley, where the Minster is just one of many historic buildings in the market town worth seeing. The ancient cities of Lincoln and York are around an hour by car, offering even more attractions, history, shopping and food.
As well as a private fishing lake just metres from the door, it has secure bicycle storage, and the owners can even arrange for your horse to stay in the paddocks next to the house. The garden is dog-friendly, so Sandes by Water offers a holiday every member of your family can enjoy!

The owners of Sandes by Water have taken great care to create an incredibly comfortable environment that immediately feels welcoming and homely. Thoughtful touches such as a welcome pack and fuel for the wood burner, as well as the incredible gardens and lake, make this a stand-out holiday cottage in Lincolnshire.
Outside: As lovely as the inside of Sandes by Water is, its gardens are equally impressive. There are not many holiday cottages with a fishing lake kept well-stocked by the owners, let alone one which also has paddocks so you can bring your horse. There are five acres of peaceful gardens including off-street parking at the front of the house, and a patio with garden furniture and a barbecue at the rear. A summer house by the lake is a beautiful place to relax and enjoy the delightful view, pontoon and gardens.
Additional Information: The property has WiFi and oil-fired central heating throughout. Sorry but no dogs. All linen and towels are included, and a travel cot and high chair are available on request. Short breaks (three night minimum) may be possible depending on availability - please enquire with the owner regarding price.
