Comfortable and welcoming, Orchard Close is an excellent choice for families and friends looking for affordable accommodation for a holiday by the sea. Sleeping up to eight guests in four bedrooms (one on the ground floor), this detached holiday home is ideally placed in a peaceful position in the village of Sandilands on the Lincolnshire coast, just a four minute stroll from the beach and promenade (beach hut available for guest use!). There is also a village shop within walking distance for provisions, as well as a Bistro (The Fat Seagull open for coffee and lunches), a National Trust coastal nature park (part of the National Coastal Walkway) and lovely coastal and countryside walks to enjoy.
Sandilands is an excellent choice for a holiday, whether you want to simply stay put and enjoy the coastal setting or get out and about exploring the Fens and Wolds many attractions. Sutton on Sea is within walking distance (a pleasant one mile walk along the promenade) offering a larger range of village amenities including an excellent fish and chip shop! There is also a play area for children including a paddling pool, a Blue Flag beach and the Black Cat Equestrian Centre for those who enjoy horse riding.
Slightly further around the coast is the traditional seaside town of Mablethorpe and in the other direction, the holiday resort of Skegness with its Blue Flag Beach, both offering plenty of opportunities for entertainment during the summer months, as well as cinemas for a movie.
For those who enjoy a game of golf, you are spoilt for choice in the local area with two coastal courses at Skegness (half an hour drive). Woodhall Spa has two championship courses inland and Louth (half an hour drive) also has two courses, The Louth Golf Club and Kenwick Park. Grimsby, Spalding, Boston and Lincoln also have good golf courses a little further afield but still within easy reach. Locally, there is a tennis tournament held during the first full week of August each year.
The area offers an abundance of wildlife and opportunities for birdwatchers. Gibraltar Point National Nature Reserve has tracks, trails and good activities to get the children involved during the holidays. Donna Nook is within twenty minutes and has the UK's largest number of seal pups born each year (Middle of October to the end of December is the best time to see the pups). Mablethorpe Seal Sanctuary is also a must to visit and home to lots of rescued seals as well as meerkats, reptiles, sea birds, peacocks and even monkeys.
Whether your passion is playing golf, bird watching, walking or simply lazing on the beach, Orchard Close is perfectly positioned for enjoying a holiday by the sea in Lincolnshire.
