About Penny Bridge House

This pet-friendly, six-bedroom property is perfect for groups of family and friends looking to explore the wonders of the nearby Lake District National Park, whilst offering its own expansive outdoor space, lovely rural views, and stylish yet character living spaces, accommodating up to 12 guests.

Travel to the rear of the home where you’ll be met by a private driveway, with enough space for five cars. On foot, head through the enclosed garden, a haven for alfresco dining and entertaining, whilst your four-legged friends play. Step indoors and make your way to the heart of the home, the kitchen/diner, complete with sleek cabinetry, state-of-the-art appliances, and plenty of space for your entire party to gather for mealtimes, with a handy pantry and utility next door. After dinner, kick back in the 'snug' with a film, or perhaps a board game next to the log burner in the living room? Both kids and grown-up kids will also love the private games room; equipped with a 7x4 ft slate bed pool table, dartboard and drinks fridge/freezer for hours of entertainment. Once you’re ready for bed, reach two stylish double bedrooms, a king-size with its own en-suite, and a further king-size, all decorated with light yet homely interiors. Head upstairs to locate the final two twin bedrooms, with plush carpets underfoot and plenty of storage to make yourself at home, with all bedrooms serviced by an indulgent bathroom, a traditionally-styled cloakroom, and a handy ground-floor shower room.

If staying put isn’t on the cards, there are plenty of places to see and things to do in the local area. Explore Coniston Water by ferry, making sure to hop off at The Coniston Inn for a lakeside lunch. Or take a trip to Cartmel to sample the sticky toffee pudding and treat yourself to a fancy Simon Rogan meal. There are many scenic walks and cycling routes right on the doorstep, whilst the super-active might want to brave a hike up the Old Man of Coniston or Scafell Pike. Kids are also well-catered for, with the Lakeside and Haverwaithe steam railway nearby (3 miles), and the possibility of day trips to Grizedale Forest or The World of Beatrix Potter. There is a brilliant Booths supermarket five minutes down the road for groceries, whilst the neighbouring village of Greenodd is only a short walk away (10 mins), where you will find a small selection of local shops including a butchers, fish and chip shop, wine shop, ice cream parlour, and the must-try Bake House Born & Bread café. For lazy days when you don’t want to venture far, the house is also a stone’s throw from the local pub in Penny Bridge village, which serves a good range of ales and classic pub grub.
