Close to Rhyl and Prestatyn is the city of St. Asaph. Known for its small fourteenth century cathedral, the city is thought to have been built around a Celtic monastery. History and religion are major themes in the city with five other churches in the area. Close by is Rhuddlan Castle, which is a historic site that has maintained its Norman structure. The Castle looks over the banks of the River Clwyd which trickles into the enchanting Clocaenog Forest. The forest rises and falls, with heights showcasing views of the mountainous surrounding area, and lows full of nature and mysterious woodland. Denbighshire is also home to the serene Llyn Brenig reservoir, which provides a peaceful place to rest during adventures in the Denbighshire countryside.
