The Flowerhouse takes its name from the past when it was once used to bundle up and package daffodils. Retaining lots of its original character, this attractive cottage has now been converted into very comfortable self-catering accommodation for up to five guests in two bedrooms (plus an additional sleeping gallery accessed via a ladder off the living area).
Tucked away in a tranquil setting at Goongillings Farm amongst Cornish countryside, The Flowerhouse is one of four holiday cottages available to rent and perfect for couples, families and groups of friends looking to holiday together. The perfect place to relax and recharge in the picturesque setting of the Lizard Peninsular, Goongillings Farm is just a two minute stroll from a very good pub, the Trengilly Wartha Inn which is in the Good Food Guide.
Goongillings Farm is all about the location and perfectly placed just fifteen minutes on foot from Scotts Quay on the Helford River. The owners own the quay (along with 100 acres of organic meadows, woodland walks and a freshwater lake) which provides access to the tidal waters for paddling and swimming - a lovely spot for relaxing and birdwatching.
The Cornish village of Constantine is just ten minutes walk away. As well as its excellent pub, it has cafes and a good village shop for provisions (selling around 500 different types of whisky!), a church, local museum and The Tolmen Centre - a thriving arts hub. From here you can catch a bus to visit Falmouth for the day or Helston and Truro, allowing guests to explore without the need of a car should they wish.
Cornwall is justifiably famous for its incredible coastline and beautiful beaches but its countryside is every bit as beautiful and Goongillings Farm allows you to enjoy it. Sitting on the northern border of the stunning Lizard Heritage Coast, there is a beautiful view around virtually every corner and a slower pace of life that is conducive to relaxing. Start at the Helford River, which flows inland from Falmouth and is a haven for boating and fishing. Go for a paddle at Grebe Beach or visit the magnificent gardens at Trebah or Glendurgan.
There are lots of superb beaches for lazy days and water sports, as well as an abundance of wildlife to see and attractions for day trips out such as Falmouth, rich in nautical history with great shops to browse, pubs and restaurants. Alternatively, just stay put and enjoy the beautiful scenery surrounding Goongillings Farm, and the warmer, drier weather that the Lizard Peninsula is much loved for.
