When you visit Dentdale you will by overwhelmed by the stunning scenery, deep heritage and great sense of pride that runs through the Dales community. A place surrounded by natural beauty that has over many years attracted artists, musicians, photographers and poets. Dentdale offers visitors the opportunity to enjoy a more relaxed pace of life and its convenient location, on the outskirts of Cumbria yet within the Yorkshire Dales National Park, makes it a superb base for visiting the vast array of attractions dotted throughout both the Dales and the county of Cumbria, including the Lake District National Park which is just fifteen miles from Dent.
Here you can relax and unwind amongst breath taking scenery; spend your days walking through spectacular rolling countryside, enjoying riverside walks, or discovering the many attractions of the area - every day escaping the crowds to return back to this peaceful haven of tranquility.
There are plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy in the area which is a haven for walkers where stunning countryside and wildlife abound. A vast array of footpaths criss cross the landscape allowing you to explore the area including the Heritage Trail and intriguing Flintergill. Alternatively, take a more sedate stroll alongside the River Dee. Cycling is another popular pursuit with pretty country lanes for a leisurely ride and off-road tracks providing an excellent way of experiencing the beauty of the Yorkshire Dales and also the Pennine Cycleways which can be accessed directly via Dentdale village.
The Settle-Carlisle Railway passes through Dentdale (stopping at its station which is the highest in England!) and is one of the most spectacular railway journeys in the world. You can take a train to Carlisle or Leeds for a great day out and sit back and enjoy the stunning views of the Yorkshire Dales and Pennines on your way.
Visit the Heritage Centre in the heart of Dent and learn all about the history and working life of the locals living in the Dales. The Mediation Centre in the village is a lovely place to visit for a quiet moment of contemplation. The village also has three pubs and two nice cafes offering the opportunity to enjoy a meal out or pint of local ale at the end of a long walk!
With wonderful walking, spectacular scenery and so many places within easy reach both within the Yorkshire Dales and Cumbria, you are sure to want to return time and time again to this peaceful paradise.

Russell Cottage is a welcoming cosy cottage that accommodates four guests and is ideally placed in a peaceful backwater in the pretty Yorkshire Dales village of Dent. Perfect for families, friends and also couples who enjoy a little extra space around them, the cottage has a verandah where guests can enjoy glorious views over Whernside and the peak of Aye Gill Pike.
Accommodation affords many character features and comprises:
Outside areas: Guests have a balcony where you can sit out and enjoy a glass of wine which is accessible via the living room for enjoying the warmer weather. Off-road parking on the driveway, and there is also a covered parking area for one car.
Additional information: Prices include electricity and heating (electric), along with towels and bed linen. The property may be suitable for less mobile guests as there are no internal steps and accommodation is single level. No smoking. Short breaks available at certain times of the year - please enquire with the owner.
