Corn Close Barn is a detached stone barn conversion in a hillside location with panoramic views over the River Dee and Dentdale. Formerly a milking parlour, it is now a welcoming holiday home for couples, families or friends, with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and space for five people. Guests love the vaulted ceiling and flagstone floor in the open-plan living room, which is kept wonderfully cosy with underfloor heating and a log burner. Though it feels delightfully remote and rural, the self-catering Yorkshire Dales property is between Dent and Sedbergh and within easy reach of the Lake District National Park.
Dentdale is incredibly beautiful. The wealth of fantastic footpaths makes the region incredibly popular with walkers, though you don't have to worry about crowded trails as there are so many miles to explore. A favourite route is the long-distance Dales Way, with other paths leading to Flintergill and the famous three peaks of Whernside, Crag Hill, and Great Coum. Mountain bikers and horse riders have an extensive network of bridleways and routes like the Pennine Cycleway. If that sounds a bit too energetic for you, then book a seat on the delightful Settle to Carlisle Railway for one of the world's most scenic steam train journeys through 72 miles of breathtaking scenery that includes the magnificent Ribblehead Viaduct.
Dent is a pretty village beside the River Dee with cobbled streets, two pubs, and an interesting heritage centre and museum. It has a village shop for essentials, with supermarkets and other amenities in Sedbergh, a few miles from the cottage. Sedbergh's history includes the Saxons and Vikings. It was also a hub of England's flourishing wool milling industry, as seen by the lovingly restored Fairfield Mill craft and heritage centre. Days out can also include exploring the southern Lake District around Kendal and Windermere.
Corn Close Barn welcomes guests all year round.
