Old Shop House is a delightful holiday cottage in central Scarborough. Spread over four floors with high ceilings and plenty of natural light, the Edwardian townhouse sleeps 12 people in six bedrooms. It suits big families, extended families, and friends on holiday in the scenic seaside town. Should you need more space for larger groups, you can book Old Shop House with neighbouring Mayville House to double accommodation to 24 people. The kitchen at Old Shop House is superbly equipped to cater for a dozen guests easily. However, if you prefer to dine out, you'll find the friendly Prince of Wales and Angel Inn pubs, a popular Italian restaurant, and various takeaways, all within just a few minutes walk.
Scarborough has been a favourite bucket-and-spade holiday destination for centuries and still has lots to appeal to the current generation. Scarborough Castle remains an iconic landmark over a thousand years after its construction. We highly recommend a walk around the headland and the castle for fantastic views over North and South Bay, as well as an insight into Scarborough's past. Of course, you can't have a holiday in Scarborough without going to the beach. With rows of striped deckchairs and windbreaks in summer and keen walkers in winter, the lengthy sandy stretch appeals in all seasons. Kids love exploring rockpools at low tide and learning more about what they find at SEA Life Scarborough.
There are endless attractions and activities to keep everyone happy during your self-catering break in Scarborough. Walk or cycle along the traffic-free Scarborough to Whitby Rail Trail, explore the coastline and gorgeous beaches at Cayton and Cornelian Bay or book tickets at Scarborough Open Air Theatre or Alan Ayckbourn's Stephen Joseph Theatre. Kids adore Alpermarle Waterpark, and don't forget the exquisite gardens at Peasholm Park, which has Japanese-inspired bridges and a boating lake. Scarborough is on the doorstep of the North York Moors National Park and within easy reach of Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay for fun day trips.

Old Shop House is a period Edwardian townhouse spread over four levels. It has been in the owner's family for generations. The ground floor was formerly a traditional outfitters shop, serving the town for 70 years.

Outside: An enclosed, quiet rear courtyard complete with "Monet" type mural. Rental includes three coveted permits for on-street parking.
Additional Information: Two dogs are allowed by arrangement. A travel cot and a highchair are available - please request these when booking. Bedding and bath towels are provided but guests need to bring beach towels, dog towels/beds, and cot bedding.
