Nightingale Cottage is in a quiet location on a 400-acre arable farm within easy reach of the ancient city of York and the breathtaking Yorkshire coast. There's plenty of room for six people to sleep in three bedrooms, with a layout that suits families and friends. Nightingale is one of three holiday cottages on the farm that accommodates up to 12 people when booked together. Spend your days exploring Yorkshire's coast, countryside and cities, and your evenings tucking into delicious meals and relaxing under the stars in the outdoor hot tub.
The cottage is located just two miles from Stamford Bridge where there is a pub, cafes and a small supermarket. Settled by the Romans, it is the site of Harald's victory over the Vikings in 1066, shortly before his final defeat at Hastings. Build an appetite with a walk beside the Derwent River or those with energetic legs can cycle to York in around three hours - it's a challenging 35-mile loop that showcases the East Riding countryside. The Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is about five miles from the cottage, whilst the beaches and coastal footpaths at Flamborough and Bridlington are less than an hour's drive.
You will want to set aside at least one day to explore historic York. Thousands of years of history include cobbled medieval lanes and a magnificent minster, as well as a wide variety of places to eat, drink and shop. If you're feeling brave, book a place on a guided ghost walk. Other local attractions to enjoy during your stay include Castle Howard and Flamingo Land. Harrogate and Hull are less than an hour's drive, giving even more choice.
Nightingale Cottage is available all year round for holiday bookings, with short breaks possible outside of peak season. It's ideal for an active holiday walking, cycling or golfing, for lovers of food, history, culture and shopping, and for anyone who appreciates having time and space to relax with their favourite people.
