Dale Farm Cottage is the perfect get-away-from-it-all escape. There is nothing rustic about the quality of this Yorkshire Wolds holiday accommodation. The owners have created a luxurious retreat for up to six people (sorry, but no children under 7) in three bedrooms on their working farm south of Hunmanby. Whether you are a couple who likes their space and privacy, or are visiting with family or friends, you will receive a very warm welcome. If Dale Farm Cottage is booked or you would like to see the owner's other self-catering and glamping accommodation sleeping two to six guests (or 26 when booked together), please visit the owner's website.
Hunmanby is believed to have been the largest village in England and has a good choice of shops and some friendly local pubs such as the White Swan and the Piebald Inn. It has some fascinating historic buildings like the 12th Century All Saints Church, 11th Century Low Hall, Hunmanby Hall and an early-Victorian lockup where the drunk and disorderly used to be held. It is possible to walk from Dale Farm into the centre of Hunmanby where there is a bus service and a train station although bikes or a car are recommended.
Dale Farm is wonderfully rural, with nearby access to some fantastic walks taking you through lush Yorkshire countryside and the sparkling North Yorkshire coastline. Three miles east of the cottage is Hunmanby Gap, a golden stretch of sandy shoreline which is dog-friendly and usually blissfully peaceful. The Gap is part of the five mile long Filey Bay. The nearby town of Filey is a pretty Edwardian seaside resort with a long promenade, a sculpture trail, some great shops, cafes and restaurants, and lifeguards during the summer.
The Yorkshire Wolds, made famous by artist David Hockney, beg to be explored whether you do it on foot, by bike, or even on horseback. The area offers miles of excellent footpaths. Exciting off-road mountain bike adventures can be found at Dalby Forest, and the beautiful sweeping roads of the Wolds make cycling a delight. With the North Yorkshire Moors National Park to the north, the RSPB Bempton Cliffs and Bridlington to the south, and the Howardian Hills AONB to the west of Dale Farm Cottage, you are surrounded by some of England’s most beautiful scenery.
