Pippin Cottage is a dog-friendly Northumberland holiday cottage in the sleepy village of Lucker. It sleeps four people in two bedrooms with two bathrooms, so it's ideal for friends as well as couples and families. The owners have given it a fresh, contemporary country aesthetic that suits its location and appeals to most ages and tastes, equipping it for a comfortable stay in all seasons. You're only a short stroll from the excellent Apple Inn gastropub if you feel sociable or want a night off from self-catering, with a cafe and a restaurant with a Mediterranean-inspired menu nearby. There's certainly no reason to go hungry when you stay at Pippin Cottage, whether or not you want to cook.
Lucker is a small, pretty village just three miles from Bamburgh. Best known for its incredible castle, which sits on a craggy hill above the town to inspire both fear and comfort, depending on your intentions, Bamburgh has a great choice of places to eat, drink and shop. It's close enough to walk or cycle, with the slower journey giving you more time to enjoy the spectacular views. Castles like Bamburgh, Alnwick and Dunstable weren't simply for show. This region has been fiercely contested over the years, with Romans, Saxons, Scots, and Vikings all leaving their mark on the landscape.
Whether a hard-core hiker or a relaxed rambler, you'll fall in love with the fantastic footpaths near Pippin Cottage. The Northumberland Coast Path covers the 62 miles between Cresswell in the south to Berwick-Upon-Tweed on the Scottish Border, passing through Bamburgh along the way. Plan a there-and-back walk or use a regular bus service for more flexibility. The views on the walk from Bamburgh to Budle Point via the golf course are particularly spectacular. Time your visit with the low tide to cross the causeway to Holy Island and Lindisfarne Castle, follow a stretch of Hadrian's Wall, or climb the Cheviot Hills for more incredible scenery.
Pippin Cottage is one of the Apple Row Cottages Collection which you can book together to accommodate larger groups. Please see the owner's website for more information.
