Ashfield Garden Room can sleep two adults and is a light and airy ground floor room, situated adjoining Ashfield House in the North York Moors village of Lockton, ideal for a short break with flexible start days and is an alternative if you are looking for B & B in the Pickering area. This ‘Room Only’ accommodation has a small kitchenette area with two tubs chairs and a table, microwave, fridge, kettle and toaster (no cooker). There is an En-suite shower-room and you have the choice between a Super-king bed or Twin beds. Outside there is off-street parking for guests.
Ashfield Cottages offers a choice of four delightful holiday homes, ideally placed in the village of Lockton close to not only Pickering but also Dalby Forest. Perfect for couples and families, the cottages sleep from two to eight guests and are well presented throughout to offer a high standard of self-catering accommodation and a warm welcome.
Each cottage has its own unique character and all enjoy modern day facilities (including Wi-Fi) and have south facing gardens for you to relax in during the warmer months. The immediate surrounding area offers excellent opportunities for those who enjoy walking, with great walks that can start straight from your front door. You can take a stroll down the village street and enjoy tasty treats at the Tea Rooms or venture a mile further and have lunch or an evening meal at the two nearby pubs.
For day trips out you are spoilt for choice, with the North York Moors National Park on the doorstep where the stunning scenery just waits to be discovered. Within a short drive the Yorkshire Heritage coastline offers you a day at the seaside with the resorts of Whitby, Scarborough and Filey, along with other smaller fishing villages, all there to be enjoyed. For a different day out you can take a train journey on the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway, which is located not far from Ashfield Cottages and is ideal for the enthusiast or for a family. If you prefer to be active head the short distance to Dalby Forest where you will find Go-Ape and mountain bike trails, also play parks with picnic and bar-b-que areas, something for the whole family. The market town of Pickering is just five miles from Ashfield Cottages and offers a great choice of independent shops and restaurants, or you can spend a day out exploring the magical streets and attractions of the City of York - not to be missed and jam packed full of history and culture. Castle Howard is another 'must visit' and one of the country's most spectacular country houses, along with Nunnington Hall and Duncombe Park.
Other attractions include Goathland village (well known as the village of Aidensfield in the TV series Heartbeat); the spectacular award winning Scampston Gardens; nearby Lavender Farms, Beck Isle Museum and Ryedale Folk Museum where you can learn about rural life; Flamingo Land (sure to be a hit with the younger party members); also Eden Camp which takes you back to Wartime Britain. You can then return and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of Ashfield Cottages.
