Trewithick Farmhouse has a homely, welcoming atmosphere from the moment you arrive. The detached holiday cottage is exactly what you'd expect a Cornish farmhouse to be, sleeping nine people in four bedrooms with a layout and furnishings ideal for families, including those with young children and dogs. You couldn't ask for a nicer place for your self-catering holiday in Cornwall than staying in the peaceful hamlet of Trelights, where you are less than two miles from the coast and within easy reach of Port Isaac and other spectacular beaches.
You'll see the prefix "Tre" a lot when you're in Cornwall. It can mean home or community, which is what Trelights is. This area is within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is peaceful and convenient. There's no doubt that Cornwall gets busy in summer. Staying here means you're close to everything yet removed from the madness. It only takes around ten minutes to drive to the picturesque fishing village of Port Isaac, used as the backdrop to the popular "Doc Martin" television series and within easy reach of Wadebridge and Camelford for shopping and other amenities.
The beauty of Cornwall's beaches is famous around the world. The stretch of coast near Trewithick Farmhouse is nothing less than spectacular no matter what time of the year you visit. Polzeath is renowned for surfing, while the conditions at Daymer Bay are consistently suitable for swimming and windsurfing. Rock is a hotspot for sailing, and you should also include Port Quinn and Port Gaverne if you don't mind sacrificing amenities for peace and privacy. Ten miles away, Trebarwith and Tregardock are also lovely and quiet or drive 40-minutes south to the famous surfing beach of Newquay.
Local attractions include Tintagel Castle and beach, Cornwall's Giant Slip and Slide, and the South West Coast Path. You can go coasteering, take a sightseeing boat trip, or hire a bicycle and explore Bodmin Moor. Padstow and St Ives are close enough for a day out, while Land's End is around 90 minutes by car. There are also museums, zoos, National Trust properties and gardens, with more to appeal to all ages and interests.
