About Pednolver Apartments - The Penthouse

The Penthouse is a fantastic first floor holiday apartment in St Ives with glorious views over St Ives town and the Atlantic Ocean from every room. Watch the sunrise with your morning tea from the large sundeck and drop down below the ocean with a sundowner.

Beautifully presented throughout, this one-bedroom apartment is ideal for couples but can sleep up to four people thanks to a double sofa bed. It is one of three apartments (please see the owner's other adverts for details on the other apartments) which have been carefully converted from a four storey townhouse that, when booked together, can accommodate 14 people in seven double bedrooms making it ideal for large families or holidays with friends. Pednolver Apartments are within walking distance of the town centre and beaches, yet removed from the bustle and noise of day trippers.

The house was built over 100 years ago for a sea captain, who must have chosen the site for its amazing views of the Atlantic Ocean. Whether you have breakfast from the sundeck or wander five minutes down the hill and dine in one of the town’s many excellent cafes, your days are sure to be enjoyable from the moment they start. Finding great food is simple in St Ives, especially if you like seafood with a sea view!

St Ives is famous for its artistic community, and you could happily lose hours browsing galleries and museums such as the Tate St Ives, the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden, Leach Pottery and Penwith Gallery. If, like so many artists before you, you find yourself inspired by the magical light and breathtaking scenery, there are numerous art classes in different mediums where you can hone your skills.

Well before artists and tourists discovered it, St Ives was an important port with strong maritime credentials. You can find out more about all aspects of the region’s history at the St Ives Museum, Geevor Tin Mine (which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site), and the Porthcurno Telegraph Museum. To immerse yourself in the history of the town and understand it like a local, why not book a space on one of the regular guided walking tours. It would be almost sacrilegious to come to St Ives without going to the beach! Visitors are spoiled for choice with so much stunning coastline and world-class beaches within easy reach. The closest beach to The Penthouse is Porthminster, but St Ives and Porthmeor are also within walking distance. Other nearby beaches include Porthkidney Sands and Porthgwidden. If you are keen, you can book surfing lessons with a local surf school.

St Ives is a year-round holiday destination for all ages. Whether you spend all day on the beach, exhaust your legs walking stretches of the South West Coast Path, head inland to discover the wonderful Cornish countryside, or try a little bit of everything, staying at The Penthouse means that you can appreciate these beautiful surroundings from the moment you wake up until the sun drops below the ocean horizon.

The Penthouse has been cleverly converted from a spacious townhouse and takes up the whole of the top floor, giving it an elevated position with fantastic sea views from all rooms.

  • Living/dining room flooded with light and sea views by two windows and a sky-light. It has two comfortable sofas, including one which opens into a sofa bed to sleep two people, a dining table with chairs, TV with satellite channels, DVD player, and WiFi. Granite walls add to the charm of the setting.
  • The kitchen is stylish and ideal for self-catering with an electric oven and hob, microwave and fridge/freezer. Oak units with black work-tops add to the visual impact, as do the sea views which flood in through the window and door which leads out to the large sundeck. There are stools, allowing you to sit alongside the worktops with a glass of wine and keep the cook company whilst cooking and watching the ever changing view over the town and ocean.
  • Bedroom with more of those jaw-dropping views to wake up to. The bed is an enormous eight foot wide, providing plenty of space to relax at the end of a long and exciting day.
  • Don't be surprised if you find yourself singing in the shower - like all other rooms, even the tiled bathroom enjoys fabulous views! There is a bath with shower overhead, heated towel rail, WC and handbasin - watch the sun set as you enjoy a long soak after walking the South West Coastal Footpath.

Outside: The Penthouse comes with private parking for one car, which is hugely useful in a town like St Ives where parking spaces are at a premium. A large sun deck balcony is perfect for alfresco dining, sun bathing and watching the sunset.

Additional Information: Utilities, WiFi, sheets and towels are provided, but guests are requested to bring beach towels. The apartment is dog-friendly, with well-behaved pets being welcome with prior agreement from the owner. No smoking is permitted in the building. A travel cot, pushchair, highchair, baby bath and backpack carrier are available on request.
