Visitors often mention the extraordinary spirit of Poldowrian: it has been described as "a place of tranquil ghosts". Whether you feel that or not, you will enjoy the silence, the sea air, and the open space. This is a remote location: apart from two other houses on the estate, the nearest neighbours are over ½ mile away. The New House is comfortably furnished and feels warm and lived-in, because it is a real home.
The garden extends over more than 2 acres and is a perfect place for calm reflection and relaxation. But its many different areas are also exciting for children to explore, encouraging imagination and a sense of adventure. There is direct access to the round-Cornwall coastal footpath.
Astronomers will enjoy the night sky, which has low light pollution apart from the distant flash of the Lizard lighthouse. We have a Skywatcher telescope which guests can use on request.
Inside the house you will find a huge collection of books, board games and jigsaw puzzles, as well as DVDs and CDs. We have a good Yamaha upright piano which musical guests are welcome to play.
Kennack Sands, a large sandy public beach, is within walking distance. There is also good family bathing at Coverack and many other nearby beaches. The south coast of Cornwall is known more for swimming, diving, kayaking and fishing than for surfing, but you can still have plenty of fun with body boards if you have them. Most beaches in our area slope gently into the water. There are also lots of rock pools ideal for young nature-lovers to explore.
The scenic villages of Coverack and St Keverne are just 4 miles away, and the nearest town, Helston, is 20 minutes by car. Most of Cornwall’s main towns and tourists attractions are within about one and a half hours' drive.
Cornwall's weather can be changeable at any time of year, but the Lizard area often stays fine even when it is cloudy a few miles away. But if you visit out of the summer season, you can still enjoy dramatic seascapes and fabulous clifftop walks, with a good Cornish pasty or a cream tea to follow.

The house has 4 bedrooms, all with magnificent sea views towards the Lizard peninsula. A comfortable sofa bed in the games room provides accommodation for an additional two people when required. There is central heating throughout the house when required, and hot water from both solar and oil-fired systems, with electric immersion as backup.
